Has Global Domains International (GDI) ruined the .ws domain?

This domain used to be short for "website", but this company, GDI, has ruined the entire .ws space. All the major keywords link to referrer links to GDI for example
media.ws
video.ws
bank.ws
(and many many more)
They market people getting rich of .ws domains, when in reality they have a plethora of compaints on ripofreport and other places.

The whole registry comes across like 1 big pyramid scheme. Why would I want to have a domain associated with these things?

I think the market is agreeing with me as the last reported sale, blog.ws, was only $575. That is awful for such a strong keyword.

The way I see it, they did a good job to promote this unlikely thing into the mainstream, now they do what they can to remain profitable. It's not a good TLD anyway, who cares what they do with their keywords

Did you know: the local market uses .com.ws that is restricted, therefore presumably more trustworthy.

Wasn't much to ruin in the first place. Along the lines of what Kate said, they're just doing their best to milk it for every last dollar.

I bought like a $1000 worth of .ws in 2003/4, all one word, and just took a bath in all of them. Letting all of them drop next year, so there will be more .ws on the market. I think everyone is doing the same. I'm not sure it was a scam, because you can make sites with it etc. But I know for sure .ws is worth nothing these days. No serious person is ever going to start their business with a .ws, which means it has just become the domain of spamers, and hence just continues to degrade in value. Its like a sinking ship with more holes being drilled in it.

I think it was just hyped as the next big thing like all the other Tlds and just like 90% of the Tlds they just come crashing back to earth when the fuss has died down and the next big thing comes out.

Same thing will happen to 90% of these new Tlds coming out next year.
