Has anyone heard of selling a domain to an end user with the price being - the seller takes a potential percentage of the profits generated by the transferred/sold domain name (assuming the end user/buyer uses the name as a business).

Thinking of trying this concept with one of my names

Thanks

I'm sure this happened with flowers.com or 1800flowers.com or eflowers.com

the original owner gets 50c per transaction (flowers sold) and flowers sent to his wife evey month,

I think it's true :)

worth a try but would have to be a greately desired name for the company to pay a percentage of there profits to you.

Goodl uck.

There are some sites that offer domains for "rent or lease", but I don't know if any of them ever get any customers.

Your idea is not bad, and I think somepeople have done this, but I would tend to keep ownership of the domain. If the domain is good enough to have that kind of a deal, it may be good enough for someone to change their mind. If you transfer ownership, it would be easy to cut you out, even if you could sue them it would be a problem.

If you remain the owner of the domain, then you could ask for some money to direct the domain to their site, and then get a percentage of sales. This places more risk on the "buyer", but since they have the site and you have the domain, I think that is a fair arrangement. Depending if they pay you some money up front or not, you may have more "risk" then them if they stop paying you or if their site sucks and they can't make any money, or just go out of business for some reason. At least you would still have your domain. :)
