I have been trying to figure out domaining for 3 months now, and bought some ok, and some not so good.

I thought it might be fun to post the complete list of the domains I got, and ask 3 questions, so we might all learn something:

1. Which domain/domains below do you think is the best, and why?

2. Which domain/domains below do you think has the least chance of selling, and why?

3. Which would you hold onto for 5-10 years, if any, and why?

Go debate!

You may want to go and study for another 3 months. Never hand reg unless you know the companies or at least the kinda company that would benefit from the domain. None of your domains are for commercial use. With 10's of millions of domains up for sale, WHY would anyone choose yours? Sorry, but I would try and give them back to the registrar, if you can OR sell them for reg fee...IF POSSIBLE>

Great domains:

Savingmode.com => might be used for saving accounts, retirement plans etc..., generally in the finance industry.

Femalebody.net => In my opinion this is the winner. Considering .net is the second most popular TLD after .com, you might gain huge profit. Google monthly search keyword for "female body" is max 100k/m. Estibot value: $850 (I think it's worth more)
average search results: 7,910,000

This domain could be used in the health and beauty niche which is a very busy niche for female users.

Cheers,

My problem is neither is memorable...actually quit boring! Can they be sold? Maybe for low XXX. FEMALEBODY.com is parked and up for sale..

'Never hand reg unless you know the companies or at least the kinda company that would benefit from the domain. None of your domains are for commercial use.'

Do Not Listen This Person. The person who wrote that does not make his bed in the morning and does not do the dishes until every last dish is dirty. Out of the risk of being banned I will leave this 'person' at that.

There are plenty of opportunities in your list Edvard, but if you think I or anyone else is going to spend an afternoon analysing the entire list forget it, well maybe over the next couple of weeks, name by name, there are at least five on that list that I am interested in buying, this thread will last for some time.

It seems there are a lot of those "person" on this forum, who I think they're doing this because they failed and trying to make everyone else especially newbies fail. Or, they just hate seeing people acquire some good domains they wished they had.

Either way, Because of such opinions, a lot of newbies quite the industry thinking that it's not worth it. While there are hundreds of thousands domainers out there if not millions, who are making a living from this industry. Most successful people are hiding for some reasons, in case I was asked where those hundreds of thousands of people are.

Appreciated,

RFLOL! I would be surprised if there were a thousand making a living in domaining. First define a 'living' then post the top 100 domainers...I challenge you!

I do not need to make a living from domaining, but I would prefer not to loose money while I learn. :)

I think there might be a difference in appraisal from those who mainly buy domains with the intent of spending time seeking out end users, and those who mainly sell on auction sites, although there can be lots of end users there too?

I will list domains on the major sites, but I mainly plan to start contacting possible end users and try to sell to them.

All domains were registered for reg fee, so if I can sell only a couple of them for a couple of hundred bucks, I am financially on the plus side, not accounting for time "wasted". I find this fun to do, so I don't consider the time wasted. So if I end up not selling anything, I have basically paid some money for an activity I find fun.

Btw, how many sites do you list each of your domains on? SEDO, Afternic, Flippa and ? and ? and ?

PS! I turned down a $150 offer for one of the domains on this list.

Perfect attitude...If you have not been to domainsherpa.com, I suggest you go. Dozens of interview with the industry's best. That is where you will learn the business.
I'm in a different place than all on NP. I am a retired senior enjoying the business. I post on GD and on Ebay. I ONLY hand reg. small profits are fine for me.

Now there is a maxim to live by when it comes to Domaining, that is going on my list of Churchill and Frank Zappa quotes Edvard, nice one :)

This list is good practice for that most obtuse and confounding profession of 'Domain Name Appraising', Ed. I'm more interested in Domain Leasing yet one will have to justify the monthly leasing prices.
