Hello,

I got an e-mail yesterday regarding my name Kebab dot xyz. This gotta be trolling, or?

I am Turkish and kebab is our national treasure. You have no right to SELL our symbol of identity. I demand you give me this domain for free, as it belongs to all the Turkish people. Otherwise, I shall take legal action to protect our identity.

Thanks for reading this. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

TheKebabLord

My reply:

Hello Mr Kebab Lord,

Thank you for contacting us!
We are looking forward for some legal action. Just bring it on.

Have a great Sunday.

Best Regards,

Fancy Domains Team

I'll keep you updated if I get any further replies.

LOL

Is like me, as a Swede, to demand all domains including; dynamite (Swedish invention), blonde women (our national treasure, haha) and smorgasbord etc.

I'm hereby claiming all belgian chocolates domains as I'm from Belgium. If you have any belgian chocolate domains or belgian chocolates in general hand them over immediately as you have no rights to sell them (or eat them).
Should you be a belgian resident then please send me a copy of your ID and some detailed proof that you need them more than me. Not complying with my absurd request will result in me threatening you with legal action.

Come on Kohsamui, you cant take blonds. Your much cooler cousin, Denmark, already got the patent down for that ;)

Regarding the Kebab Lord, he wants to buy it. Sell it to him, Turkish bidders nearly always give low opening offers. Although this must be some kind of record.

According to this..
"Kebab (also American kabob) is a term in English for several types of food. The word originated in the Middle East and is also common in other languages worldwide, with numerous spellings and variants. It has different definitions in different varieties of English, and in different cultures"
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kebab

Kebab is a English word, so I assuming the Turkish word is different..?

As a Canadian, I claim Maple Leaf, loonie, maple syrup....especially Beaver..

Fun read. Thanks for sharing.

Occasionally I do get $1, $5 and $10 offers, but no one demanded names for free.

Tell him he can have it for free, but there's a $50,000 transfer fee.

That's brilliant!

I think you should mail him back and point out that the Greeks have a claim to its origins too. Tell him you're going to sell it to the Greeks, that will teach him.

"There is iconographical evidence of Byzantine Greeks cooking shish kebabs. But surely the descriptions of skewering strips of meat for broiling in Homer’s Odyssey must count for an early shish kebab."

Damn it I want a kebab now.

I think he is just someone who knows nothing about the domain industry, do not take him too serious, I even think that he is just a troll.

By the way, I am also Turkish and I know that Kebab/Doener got invented from a Turk, but in Berlin, Germany - where it also got famous and then its international prominence. You may confront him with this? ;)

Aaand now, thanks for making me hungry.

I think this migt eventually work. Turkey is enough populated (and respectively shouvinistic Balkan country) to just run trugh some populated facebook groups and collect donatons to overbid that greeks and deffend the national honor... (just a idea for the seller maybe)
