Google added a couple of new options to the spam reporting tool, including the new site reputation abuse and expired domain abuse, to the form. Again, Google announced these new spam policies last March, enforcing the site reputation abuse this earlier this month.

Most of these "repurposed" domain names are crap but I have come across several of these expired domains with high quantity of "seo juice". Decent names to resell as a domainer but the price quickly skyrockets to crazy levels on such names. These SEO guys must be really loaded and GD surely was making a fortune on these.

Wonder how this is gonna effect a domainer though.

honest seo guys (probably easier to find a real Nigerian prince that needs help carrying his gold) are desperately trying to keep their clients ranking high. They use these expired domains as giant content farms with a reasonable in/out link ratio to to send backlinks to their clients for specific keywords. For it to work, the name must be in a relevant industry and still get real traffic daily from old links. They usually restore the old site from wayback machine and keep the structure.

Their goal is not to get the expired domain to rank high, the goal is to use it as a good source of link juice to help their clients.

There are also people making money selling links on these sites. This is not all that honest because soon they sold so many links and to so many unrelated sites that it loses any value.

Expired names that still get traffic can also be used to stuff pages with a lot of ads including video ads. These people do not care, they just want to serve up many ads and make money. If the site was in a niche with a high ppc or rpm with traffic from first world countries (not many left), they can do real well.

This is why I've always said that the future lies in domain name investing and not domain traffic investing or domain investing centered around SEO.

Google, and other search engines, are not fans of algorithm manipulation and they've already kicked EMD:s to the curb, and it wasn't too long ago where they drove a bunch of SEO gurus out of business.

Get the good .com domains of descriptive brands that marketers like, because Big Search has no issue with those.
