I found this post from January, 2004 (another forum) on selling domains. I had asked the question about selling domains:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The more you time you spend on marketing your domain names the quicker you are likely to get a sale.
The same goes for asking a realistic price.
I have worked in many businesses ( offline ) that run at a profit margin of 40% to 250% ..... Even when I launched my own on-line company ( 4 years ago ) I was working on about 200% to 300% profit margin.
Now look at what people are expecting for their domains
If you are serious about making a business out of it then cash flow is the thing to concentrate on, selling to resellers is the easiest way .. you will probably not make any big sales but I would rather turn over 1 domain a day and make a nice little profit than try and go for the ' big ' sale.
If I make 5 times what I pay for a domain then I am pretty happy, when I make 10 times I am very happy ... when it goes upto 25 times and above what I paid for the domain then I go down the pub
The only problem with waiting comes if the domain is already getting traffic, unless you get a relevant site up there you will lose that and so some of the value of the domain.
There are people here that know a lot more about domain name trading than me, hopefully they will give you some good pointers.
To give you a bit of encouragement, you have found the right place ... I have made more on AfterNIC than anywhere else.
Wishing you all the best.
