Im looking at a domain I wish to acquire. I have already started the process of contacting GoDaddy to get this domain and I hope this would be relayed through the seller. However I wanted to get some feedback on the process and maybe contacting the domain seller directly.

Currently the domain sits at $5,000 and has been for a very long time. Using the Wayback Machine, I see it used to be on an action called Undeveloped.com and the "sellers name" seems to be generic.

Im wondering if its possible to get any more information about the seller or am I dead in the water in hopes they reply?

Undeveloped.com was the previous iteration of Dan.com, which is now owned by GoDaddy.

Expect to be contacted by a GoDaddy broker, and don't expect to be provided with any substantial information as pertains to the buyer. There are ways you could contact the seller directly, but at this point I don't see that being very productive.

Best of luck.

Out of curiosity, what are these ways?

No Corporate reseller, such as Godaddy is going to give you any information on the domain seller. If it sold at say $5,000 that's £1,250 commission for godaddy. You could try searching the name with extension in quotes " " just in case the owner has discussed it on a domain board.
Anything that's been listed for that long may even be a redundant listing. Reads to me that it is worth paying Godaddy the contact-price, what is it about $100 these days. Even then you won't be privy to the owner details.

If it is a live listing. Is it a buy now price or just make-offer with 5k start

Godaddy works for FBI and CIA so they do not reveal the buyer information to anyone.
Technically they don't want you to go back door and deal with the seller yourself.

You still have a few things you can try.GoDaddy’s contact form might work, but sometimes sellers don’t respond, especially if the domain’s been sitting there for years. If it used to be on Undeveloped, try checking the Wayback Machine to see if there’s any old contact info. You can also do a WHOIS search, but the owner might have their info hidden... If that doesn’t work, you could try using GoDaddy’s broker service or a site like Sedo to get in touch
