Being pregnant at 17 isn't that big a deal anymore.. kids these days are often sexually active much earlier than that. In terms of whether she's qualified to be VP or not, her daughter's pregnancy is basically a non-issue.. I'm more concerned that the media seems to have jumped on the Palin bandwagon and is pushing her more than McCain at the moment. Who are we voting for?
i disagree here....sometimes i wonder if culture contradicts natural instincts. i mean, our society says that 17 is way to young to have children. but women have been doing this for centuries.
historically, women have been getting married and having children at a much younger age
today, strong women are supposed to go to college, work for some big corporation, or become a lawyer, and then maybe later there will be time for kids. i really bought into that.
but now that i've had my first child, i regret not starting sooner. maybe the maternal instincts have kicked in, but if i were to compare my life before my son was born, i'd describe it as bland, colorless, and boring.
not saying that i would have been ready to have a child at 17...but society doesn't each young girls how to be mothers at such a young age. at 17 you're supposed to be dating, having fun, and being juvenile...
but back to the topic at hand....what surprises me however, isn't the fact that this young lady is pregnant....but the fact that she's unmarried and pregnant.....does this demonstrate that abstinence only education is a failure?
