I just saw this on digg and wanted some perspective. This guy wants to trade up his oneuglydomain.com for a more "beautiful" one worth $1 million. It's like that oneredpaperclip idea, but with domains.

My question is, does he have a chance or is this just a parody? I have a couple of dead domains I wouldn't mind trading for if I can feed off the publicity this might generate.

Thoughts?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Restarting the project wouldn't generate that much interest imho..

Hey Everyone,

OUD is not dead!

I just completed a trade with Andres making him and OUD the new ower of DeluxeBurger.com. Check out the details at his blog site:

http://oneuglydomain.blogspot.com/

What this means is that Andres now has a truly "juicy" .com domain that he can go on to trade for bigger and better things.

As a US resident, I'm happy to be the new owner of NQT.us, and have a feeling it will go on to signify NotQuittingTime for OUD as the once center of attention site takes on new life and interest.

As only the talented and eloquent Andres can put things:

"So there you have it, DeluxeBurger.com is the 16th domain to feel the OUD magic. And for those of you saying OUD is dead, I'm going to make you eat your words right after my DeluxeBurger.com!"

Amen.

Unfortunately I think the apathy may have had a larger effect then realized. Less people interested, and clearly some uncertainty as to whether or not the project will be consistent. I had some interest in the site prior to the lapse but frankly at this time, have lost interest.

Certainly apathy has taken hold, but I'm optimistic that Andres can turn things around and regain our collective interest again. He's built a solid foundation and has learned many lessons. If he can build on that, maybe people will come around again to watch and even participate. I was surprised to see that two offers have already come in on the new domain. I didn't expect that and will be watching to see if this new spark can be fanned into a flame. If it ever turns into a roaring fire again, won't that be something?

Back on track!

Hey folks, I've traded domains with Tom so I'm now accepting offers for MotorizedHome.com. I want to build on the momentum of the previous round to get OUD rocking and rolling again, so send in those offers!

Cheers!
Andres

I have to agree but I hope Andres the best. He has a helluva lot of work to do; letting the site lapse for as long as it had only dug the hole deeper. One can only wonder if another LLL comes along.

So is this project still alive by any chance??

...even it's not been forgotten, interest seems to have been lost- I was surprised to see this thread re-appear as I'd forgotten all about it.
330+ days until the end of this round according to the timer on the site.

I really like his concept, and I predict him becoming rich very soon if this continues to be very popular for some reason. This idea reminds me of that milliondollarhomepage too.

I own "a million dollar homepage dot com" and I don't know what to do with it. Any ideas?

lol! But i don't think it will work anyway! People have to think out of the box rather than repeating the same idea!! It works only once!!

So come up with your own ideas!

Yep, there's been some good trades but also some terrible ones. It definitely hasn't moved up everytime. How could you have a NNN.net and then a few trades later end up with a LLL.us

If each trade was carefully considered and made sure that it moved upwards only this may well have worked ok.

Oh, c'mon it's dead.
Let it rest in peace.

Looking back at OUD, there were once some nice names up for trade like Yusu.com that was sold for more than $3k recently. And other very good ones.

Yah, no doubt. Looking back some nice domains were traded through OUD, however the site doesnt appear to have been updated in closing in on 3 months.... As predicted, it just started going nowhere.

I like the current name up there, AboutFarms.com.... that could be a nice adsense page, a blog about farm life, or an equipment directory page, that sort of thing.

I had no idea it was still around.

I have had some e-mail communication with Andres lately and I asked him if he intended to resurrect OUD and he says he does.

Apparently he's had a lot going on....but he promises that it will live again.

So stay tuned.

Sounds familiar...?

I'm unsubscribing from this thread now, I've gone from mildly entertained, to mildly disinterested to couldn't-care-less. If it comes back, a few weeks later Andres will be back on a project that's going to actually make hime money (and rightly so).
