Hi
Often a webmaster is looking for new ways to get traffic, build word of mouth, gain exposure, get backlinks etc, and often that need is coupled with the real-world reality that we don't always have all the money we need to achieve these things.
Well that's where free press releases can fill the gap. They are effective when done right, make for positive press on your product/service/self, make for backlinks and in general just allow the world to know you exist - at no cost except a little bit of time.
So what is a "press release" and how can you take advantage of them? A press release is simply a quick overview of fresh pertinent news you want the world to know about you, your products and/or services.
They are easy to write and here is a basic template to follow for best results:
Introduction:
A quick one paragraph sumation of everything you want to protray in your press release. Make it attention grabbing without over-selling. Basically convince the reader that the rest of the content is indeed news-worthy and worth their time to read in full.
Body:
Release date - place(country/state/city) - and your main information for your press release. Tell everything about the product/service and why it should matter. How does it set itself apart? Where to get it? How much does it cost? Where will it be? Be sure to add these types of things. Make this part about two to five or six paragraphs in length. Include a quote or two if appropriate and be sure to attribute it to someone.
Summation:
Include the very basics like the particular product or service - part numbers, ordering information, refunds, rebates, sales etc.
About:
Here you can give a nice general overview of yourself or your company. Tell about what you do, how long you have done it, your successes, who you partner with (name drop), etc, and it only needs to be one or two paragraphs in length.
Contact:
This is the most important part - and often the one most overlooked. Always, always, always make it easy for people to contact you. Whenever possible include full contact details including name(yours and business), address, phone, email and web site url. If reporters or prospective customers want to get ahold of you - they will do so if you make it easy for them to do so. Just providing a link to your website might not be enough - people are lazy, they might not find more information on your website, it might be down etc etc etc. I've had reporters/potential customers contact me looking for more information on a number of companies because they neglected this most important part!
That's about it for the basic press release. Note - this is what we require for our free press release service, but other press release services may require more or less information in a similar or different format.
We recommend using our service as often as possible. Tell the world about your new website, your new e-book, your latest product or hot sale. It builds positive content for you. Our press releases are almost instantly indexed by google (I've pressed submit and seen them live on google in as little as one minute!), google news carries the feed as does a number of other news aggregators and web sites. More and more news agencies and freelancers subscribe to our feed daily/weekly - so take advantage of it.
Some dont's:
Don't try to publish an extremely short poorly written press release. Most likely it will not be published, and if it is, it reflects poorly on you. Spend some time and do it right!
Don't try to squeeze in a dozen outbound links like you are submitting to an article directory - that's not what this about. And don't submit the same press release to dozens of press release companies and article directories. The search engines will almost always just key on the first one to be indexed with the rest doing little at all for you.
So where's this free press release service and is it really free? Yes it's entirely free - both to sign up and publish your press releases. Do both at:
