Thank you for asking this important question. There appear to be some alternative, low-cost, one-page web hosting options out there that could be used for parked domain landers. Are there free alternatives out there to the marketplace and adparking landers?

Github for developers? Afaik it is free, own domain and https are supported:
https://pages.github.com

{not intended for multi-domains, so registrar-based domain forwarding should likely be added into the scheme}

In any case, while free options may be useful for beginners or to test stuff, commercial shared hosting will be better - less limits, support etc.
