I don’t find it particularly brilliant. It’s opportunistic. It’s only brilliant if suckers give him good names for cheap. He’s not doing anything we don’t see done everyday— a domainer trying to get something for very little. If he was offering good prices I would respect it more but have heard nothing good so far about the prices. No different than our wanted section right here if you ask me.

He's paying you to get rid of domains and free up cash, on a massive scale.
He's got a registrar and brokers, he's selecting the domains, it's a brilliant move from him.

If you manage to find a good handreg/expired/closeout domains for $20 and he offers you $200, it's OK, you're not a sucker. He won't pay $1000 for a possible $10000 end user domain, never. He's paying you $200 to find and bring the good domain to him, he's got a registrar and brokers. Again, it's a brilliant move from him.

Meanwhile there's the case where Huge Domains is letting us find the good domains in an unethical manner only to bid against us and take them away.

This started out with a lot of fanfare, but I haven't heard any more for at least a month. Any updates from those who submitted names? @Silentptnr @creataweb?

I sent 40 names about a month ago with no response so far.

I agree. I checked their website to see if they might have posted an update about it, but I don't see anything other than the original announcement from May.

I used the contact form and some of the names had inquiries from uni as well. So seems strange they didn’t respond for those at least. And I had a bunch of liquid 4Ls that ended up being sold here instead.

I didn’t do a direct email since I used the form.

I also used the form and also had a name that had gotten 7 or 8 Uni inquiries.

It’s pretty obvious they got overwhelmed, and probably got so much jargon, they just jumped ship. Given they have 400k domains, and unlimited gtlds in their extensions, along with a register, and sales platform to run, maybe they took on to much to quickly. An automated response should have been sent out, unless the inquiries are on ice, until someone gets to them. Portfolio sales should be a last resort,
especially for the names they were probably seeking.

What they could have done not to be overwhelmed is simple and is done all the time in the industry. Many marketplaces, parking companies etc. ask for the sample of your names first, let's say 10 or a bit more. And then they can judge based on that the quality of your holdings or your tastes.

You can't excuse being unprofessional by being overwhelmed.

I don't expect much of anyone these days.

Funnily enough, it correlates to peace of mind

And, yet, anyone is free to take mental notes regarding people/entities for potential future dealings.

On the page with the Domain Portfolio Submittal Form there is this:

“We will follow up with the contact information provided if your names qualify.”

I would assume no response after a few weeks means thanks, but no thanks (which is the policy often applied in threads on NamePros).

1000 domains with 1M Estibot total, how much would they pay.. I mean if all .com, but not necessarily english. (I'm not saying I have it, yet). With new tlds this would probably be easy with handreg only. If they say we pay 50K without looking at the list, then this might be a good deal.

Are you suggesting that they buy domains based on Estibot valuation?

I just used the form to submit a random name.
    Here's the message I got.

Thank you for your entry! Due to the volume of inbound submissions we are not currently able to reply to each individual user. We will contact you via the contact information provided if your names qualify for our service. Please allow 2-3 weeks for a response.

    Thank you!

I mean, they have some criteria, and if it is Estibot, 20:1 is a good and reasonable ratio. Maybe they insist on already liquid domains like 5 digit .coms, 4 letter .coms, meaningful 2 words less than 10 chars then there is no point of selling them in bulk. I dropped one word meaningful .nets partially by accident, but mostly because they didn't look liquid. Maybe they were better than tomorrow.net which was sold 40K. Someone should report how much they offered for what. Maybe they are just testing who has what and how desparate that seller is, and when they find endusers through their secret channels, they would quitely buy a small list which contain that domain, and then resell. I think Sedo and Afternic are not transparent enough. Sedo is more transparent, but in the wrong direction. Are Godaddy and Hugedomains related, or are they the same thing? I buy Hugedomains drops, and probably they wouldn't buy them even if they have good Estibot.

Even though Uni market provides a link to estibot appraisal inside, Uniregistry team are professionals and they hopefully do not use estibot appraisals (or any other automated appraisals) for any purpose... With a natural exception of sending potential buyers to estibot, during negotiations, only in (random) cases where estibot appraisal happens to show high value and the asking price is lower.
