Hello and Assalamo Alaikum,

It’s been just couple of weeks coming to Malaysia and right after relocating, I sold couple of domains and that too within 24 hours. It was really surprising and very satisfying to have 2 domain sales and that too of five figures! Having couple of five figures that quickly is a personal record. Credit to the hard working brokers and Afternic team.

Both of them happened via Afternic.

First sale was of DarkWallet.com which I originally listed for sale at $29,888 BIN both at Sedo and Afternic. Usually all my pricing is same at every marketplace. The buyer came via Afternic broker and initially offered $20,000. However, after going back and forth, we settled for $25,000 gross.

Next sale was definitely surprising which happened after DarkWallet.com sale where the buyer simply hit the BIN and paid $19,888 for it. The domain was BusinessChecking.com

The total acquisition costs for both domains was around $1,000.

Looks like the start of this new journey of moving to Malaysia has started fantastically well and hope it continues to keep ticking up only.

Feel free to comment no matter how good or good that is 😉

Thank you everyone. Much appreciated your kind words and well wishes. That makes me more happier along with the sales for sure!

Around 2-3 years each.

@Bob Hawkes
Thank you my friend :)
I think it's not that common because almost all of my 5 figure sales have happened with negotiation and not BIN.

@ET76
Thank you!
That would be great for sure. At least we're more closer now ;)

@DomainBarracksRob
Thanks yeah!
You thought and got the answer ;)
These sales have happened at the perfect time. Will cover lot of expenses.

For choosing Malaysia, I didn't had many options at my hand to select from. The value of our Pakistani passport is 2nd or 3rd from the bottom of world passport rankings. I know we as nation deserve that. May be some would disagree with me but that's their wish but I cannot hide any true picture of anything I'm aware of. I know it's not I'm proud of but it is what it is.

Which one is your favorite?
BIN + make offer
or
only BIN with no possibility to make an offer?

Congrats!

All my domains having BIN are having BIN only because make offer brings in lot of lowball offers...

Wow those are two great sales! Congratulations! What a welcome 'gift; to have those right after your moving expenses!

It must be rare to have a 5 figure sale directly via a BIN, without negotiation, or is it more common than I think?

Aslam allekum Though I have congratulated you on yours website but this fan of yours wants to say congratulations to you again... On these great sales and on relocating to malaysia... How's malaysia by the way??

WaAlaikum Salaam,

Thank you dear :)

I've been to Malaysia before also but on holidays. It's much better than Pakistan overall. Though I won't say a perfect country to live but far better in many aspects. Cost of living is low than U.S, Canada, UK, Europe and standard of living is good. NO Tax on foreign income which is great!

Weather is perfect all year and food is great with lots of variety.

Congrats @AbdulBasit.com !! This is awesome ! Very happy for you, I was just thinking about startig a thread the other day to ask if any one has ever had 2 5fig sales in the same day or week! Well done

I love DarkWallet btw I have DarkXR ..dark is a great keyword!

Way to get top dollar.

Fall is looking good as I just got my first offer on a Defi name today!

Sales are picking up again , and let them keep rolling in!

Thanks for sharing and don't spend it all at once ;)

I could not find any potential end user using Google & dotDB. What prompted you to acquire DarkWallet.com?

I don't think it's right to say that there are NO potential end users for DarkWallet. The term "wallet" is very hot and combination of these two makes it a decent brandable domain. Also any new startup could use this as their brand name IMO. As you must be aware that BitcoinWallet.com sold for $250,000. Though I don't compare domains while making any purchase of pricing/negotiating/selling. Just wanted to share this particular sale as I just recalled now.

If you use Escrow.com via Uniregistry, you don't pay any commission to Uni.

The link you shared is of using Uniregistry brokerage so then you pay 15% commission for using their brokerage service. As said in my earlier post, if you handle the lead/inquiry by yourself by either using Escrow.com or Uniregistry checkout itself, you don't pay any commission except a very nominal service fee. Also in recent time, Uni have given the option to put credit card/PayPal fee on buyer or you pay yourself depending on your choice.

Darkwallet has value. But at the same time it connotes the “dark” web which is actually a negative connotation so it’s not someplace I would want to park my crypto. Will be interesting to see what comes of the website.

Businesschecking has obvious value but seems a little limited (limited to...”business” checking) although I could see it being used as a site for comparisons between free and other business checking. Maybe a stretch but could be used to...”check” on a business?

What matters to us domainers is that AbdulBasit made two great sales and for that, congratulations! The fact that he made the big sales soon after making a brave move to a foreign country when he most needs to support his family is God working in his life.

Congratulations dear friend @AbdulBasit.com

Fantastic sales with fantastic setting up BIN for your names.

I really admire that quality within you. Selection is key I completely understand , but setting up right price is equally important. Your sales history and negotiation skill around your BIN proves you are very good in expecting good ball park range for your various names.

Best of luck for new place and new beginning with family in different country.

Thanks

Thank you dear (y)

You can always put the credit card/PayPal fee on buyer to be paid so you'll end up paying their service fee which is quite nominal. Earlier they didn't allow the option to choose who pays the fee but in recent time they've started allowing the seller to choose who pays the credit card/PayPal fee.

I always choose buyer to pay the fee and never had issues from buyer's point of view. So I would suggest you do the same as well.

I normally negotiate the price and don't like surprising clients with hidden fees.

In this case, the guys wanted to pay $500, when I quoted $5K, he said no thank you, did not know names cost that much, max I can get my partners to is $1000. I declined. Waited for 4 weeks, then basically emailed that I am having a promo for limited time, just follow the domain, click bin at $1995 and take the name right away. Which he did ) Given that I paid under $150 for the name few months back, I am still happy, but just stating that their fees add up to being similar to DAN. But the advantage is that the contacts are transparent. Which helped in this case, because I actually called and talked to the guy in the beginning and had an idea who it is and how to approach him. With DAN it would have been dead.

I hope this selling streak will last.

Darkwallet is a brilliant brand name - anonymous/secured/privacy+wallet.

BusinessChecking is a great keyword domain. Hard to see company naming themselves that; i also couldn't find direct end users to it.

All that matters is the sales! Congrats!

I would love to understand how you come about your pricing.

I appreciate you taking time and sharing your point of view on what you think about each of those domains.
I totally agree with you on DarkWallet and for BusinessChecking, I've copied below from Google:

"Business checks are bank drafts written against a business checking account. The draft is negotiated on the organizations deposits, not the owners, making a clear delineation of personal and professional assets. Banks have specific requirements in opening business checking accounts."

"A small-business checking account helps business owners manage taxes, as well as legal and practical money issues. ... Business checking accounts and personal accounts are similar in some ways. Both often have monthly fees that are waived if the account holder meets certain minimum balance requirements."

I think this will justify the asking price yeah...

Congrats on your sales,

Maybe you can put some of that money into some other ventures in your new location as a backup to domaining.
