edskii - that one is nice too
(it also has some other useful tools on the homepage)

CriminalOrigins - what happened with the twin brother quiz ? I think I spooked superprogrammer with the jackpot bonus :p

stscac - no , I just thought it would be very useful to many domainers (sometimes it is tiring to wait for the page with the search results to load (even with broadband) , when all you want to do is just check a couple of names/variations fast)

Also check pixoh from the same guys ... it is a nice and very simple online image editor

Lastly , check this thread for some very interesting internet statistics

I don't know if it's his site or not Steve....it's regge'd as "private"....

Also...he says you can send him $5 for "free" ...I guess for using the site but when I looked at the code this is what I found (I'm suspicious by nature)...the form action takes you to this url: dpbolvw.net which is regged to cj.com or more commonly known as commission junction......

It is a usefull tool ...don't get me wrong...I'm just saying ...there is a "motive" behind placing it on here......affiliate $$$...payout when someone regg's a name...or donates....not cool....

It's all in the code....look for yourselves....

I'd just as soon use something thats really "free" such as www.whois.sc

I wan't overly impressed as I found some names which reported erroneous results; however, the link to www.Pixoh.com was somethinh *REALLY* impressive!

I'm finding that it says sites are available that are NOT...

like AAA.org for instance. Imagine my surprise when AAA.org was available!!! Smoke came off my keyboard as I rushed to register the name... only to find out it was indeed taken... has been and will be until at least 2007.

:(

oldratracer - I understand your cautiousness and I really suggest people should be really careful in general on the Net , but ...

it is not my site , I do not know the guys who made it and I did NOT post it here so that they can earn money . I just posted it because I think it is really useful for quick searches and quick searches for derivative names .

For WHOIS I use whois.sc also . It was one of the first whois I tried (if not THE first) and it is the best I've found so far . But for a quick .com availability check I think that instantdomainsearch is rather good (see below for some other issues) .

CriminalOrigins - Hey man , I should have won that , check my last post there . Your answer was only for leap years (of course that would depend on whether superprogrammer would reward the person who found the answer he had in mind or the person with the correct answer even if different from the one he had in mind)

GoPC - I saw the AAA.org and it is really strange . I haven't used that site much myself (I recently found it) but I guess it is really bad if it makes mistakes on something as crucial . Even worse if it does the opposite (showing available sites as registered) but I think the latter is more difficult to occur . For example many times the Yahoo domain search showed domains as available to me while they were not .

Judging from the pixoh site , I think it is just some kind of mistake (or a bug) and not at all intended .

Here is the best one of them all. You can check the url-the whois and whether it's for sale all in one glance and it's fast too.
http://www.eurodns.com/ And if you click on the "ASIA" you can see all of them plus the generic and all major country tld's.
Nifty hey! :hehe:

I like the idea about instant domain check on different extensions, but the tool is giving so many errors so itยดs currently useless.

AAA.org errors

This is a bug, AAA.org is in the zone file but not in the database. The site's been live since October last year, and I've never seen this. I'll reload all of the data from fresh source files tonight.

Often names that are taken don't show up in the zone files because they have no nameservers, or because their registry status is funky. At worst, Instant Domain Search may report a domain as available when it's not. It should never mark a name that's available as unavailable.

Whois.sc's WHOIS is great, I just updated IDS to link to them.

Yes, that's CJ.com, and yes, I make money from referrals. Not too many people take us up on the donations though.

Thank you!

I sent an email (regarding AAA.org) to the the person who made the site , I hope he responds with an explanation .

FanCube - what other mistakes did you find ?

::ADDED::

Thanks for the quick reply hartshorne ... Actually you responded before I posted that I sent you an email

I see that the AAA.org is fixed now .

If you updated your IDS to whois.sc , I don't think there will be any more problems .

oops , you meant you updated IDS (InstantDomainSearch) , I thought you meant IDS as in IDS server (I didn't know what IDS meant so I googled it) . Anyways , isn't it the whois from where you check if a domain is available ? If so , with whois.sc , I think it will run smoothly .

Godian....your contradicting yourself....see your post to me ^^^.....you stated that you did not know the site owner...hmmmm...
The site owner (hartshorne) does admit that it is cj.com and that it he does get affiliate income from the site (as I stated)....

It looks like you 2 are connected and your using this thread to promote the site...not cool ...other ways to do it than to decieve fellow NP'ers....

There is a thread for site promotion on here I do believe.....(I'm new here so may be wrong...)....someone please correct me on this...
