Epik and Parler

"Free Speech" means that people should be free to express their grievances, dislikes, and even their anger at what they find to be unfair or unjust,

Whether on the right or on the left it is the responsibility of those who manage and operate the social platforms to make sure that they don't allow a few fanatics and extremists who are willing to cross the lines to ruin it for everyone else who although very vocal, but do not wish to cause any bodily harm or damage to others.

you deleted your post that was the last one on the previous page and posted it again after my comment on this page and put a whole different post in its place on the previous page.

Although you are allowed to edit your posts, but I don't think it's right for you to be changing thier places around in their entirety.

Do you or @Rob Monster not see how this <Takei Tweet> could be a softball opportunity for @epik to engage with mainstream media to garner the mic, and set some things straight with perhaps the advantage of a friendly t(r)ekkie/humorous spin? What's that old phrase, turning lemons into lemonade?

eg. Misinformation from a high profile celebrity gives up a national microphone should Epik chose to engage with George Takei. I mean, who doesn't think a headline such as Epik Educates (or responds to) (or hits back at) George Takei would be picked up by AP or other PR outlets.

Thus, with more mainstream media attention/ citable sources, the more opportunity Epik has to clear their image, set records straight, which would inevitably lead to/help clean up the Epik wikipedia page with more citable/less disputable instances/sources.

Is this a competition or is this one of those ""this is my thread"" type of things that would likely best if rather than casually ignoring one another, one of us utilized the ignore feature?

By the time I finished editing my post, it was quite long, and hard to follow the two separate events. So I thought it best to break it up into two posts, with related links in chronological order, opposed to a <<<>>> breakage.

My post(s) had nothing to do with any of your posts. TBH, I generally skip through most of your posts. You can edit your quote and quote whatever you were responding to if you feel my edit messed up your post/response order for better reading clarity.

 

I have nothing against you, and might even appreciate reading your comments,

but, I am just pointing out that in the long time that I have been on this forum I don't recall seeing anyone switching around the position of their posts in their entirety and in all honesty I don't believe that it's allowed to be done like that once someone else has made a comment in between.

and I am referring to your posts #50 and #52 being switched around with one another.

Post #50: My initial post included and stemmed from a January 13th tweet. By the time I finished writing on the subject and was about to log off, I realized I forgot the January 14th Parler update which related more to the January 13th tweet, than to the (January 14th BusinessInsider article) re: FBI investigation.. Added it. And felt it to be too long and unrelated to be included as one post, as the <<<>>> didn't help much.

Epik is censorship resistant, and I think that's a cool thing. I don't want to know what Parler is/was, but I do know for a fact that Epik is against censorship and doesn't engage in unfair practices which the big bullies like AWS and GoDaddy take part in.

If you are against it, then my friend you have no idea what internet censorship is and how the bigger companies operate by effectively censoring content based on political views and so on, to serve their own interests.

You like to lie a lot, I point out reality. You guys run around talking about GD, FB, Twitter etc. and say go to these other places that also have a TOS they enforce.

So GoDaddy kicks a site for violating the TOS = outrage

Reading the article some more, seems owner has no control of the place. Owner said he's getting death threats and one of his "powerful" mods controls the code:

It looks like Epik believes in censorship after all. I guess that they were just too cowardly to stand up for free speech any longer. It is really just sad.

Good for Epik if they stay true to their word and deplatform accordingly. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can plan coups, make threats, carry out those threats and promote white supremacy and hate speech. Your free speech ends and becomes criminal when you encourage and plan with others to over take a government, partake in hate crimes, threaten to kill people, etc.

You can’t reason with a cult. Look at how they were threatening the site owner. Learn more about what freedom of speech really means.

The folks at Parler are on a journey. And like all of us, they are a work in progress.

In the meantime, as some are aware, Parler.com showed up at Epik without notice or invitation. We have since started to get to know them. Whether Parler's platform comes back online is not known. For now, they have started to inventory the task in the wake of a brutal and coordinated takedown by Big Tech.

As for what comes next, I do think humanity deserves better. Two wrongs don't make a right. Related comments:

The key message that I will give you, is one that is that Epik has thoughtfully and fearlessly engaged both the far right and the far left for the last 2 years. We have done so with optimism, humility and compassion, appealing to the higher self of each person that is placed into our path.

The approach of constructive and transparent engagement has been a consistent theme as a way of countering hate and fear. Censorship will drive people to platforms like Telegram where there is little moderation, no surveillance, and where intolerance is too readily allowed to feed on itself.

For those who support Draconian deplatforming and unconditional censorship, know that unilateral control of all narrative is a proven recipe for spawning a vast number of Timothy McVeighs. As I have encountered some of these types in the past, that would very likely be the road to hell.

Open communities with capable 24/7 moderators that enforce guidelines for acceptable use, within the bounds of the governing law, are a viable and proven path forward.

 

The parlers were actually sending death threats to John Matze over his cooperation with the FBI. I want it to go back up. Much easier for the FBI to monitor future threats and plans.
