Doing domain investing on eth is a smart move as long as it's premium.

.eth only one that will survive besides .com and a few other legacy ones.

Annual reg fee is about $5 USD per year. although gas cost to complete the transaction on Ethereum can vary a lot right now depending on network traffic ($50-$1000+).

If you reg something do it for at least a couple of years. By then they will of launched a L2 solution to bring down gas costs.

The main difference is renewals.

The ENS model requires renewal where as .crypto etc has a one off fee.

The benefit of renewal fees means that domains will return to the market if private keys ever get lost and the pool of available domains remains liquid indefinitely.

Blockchain naming systems with one of fees are doomed to fail IMO as it’s inevitable that over time keys will get lost and domains will be lost forever.
