I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I wouldn't be paying too much money for Smartphone, as the old world of generics is long gone. It does have some brandable appeal for a business using Smartphone XXX (World, Repairs, Reviews), but don't be laying down piles of cash hoping for a big windfall from Apple or Samsung.

I agree with @DomainRecap

Count all the things your smart phone can do and you'll soon discover that the phone part is fairly minor.
Smart Device probably describes it better but who knows where it will end.... smart controller etc.

One thing for sure, it won't be a smart phone, all it takes is for apple to coin a new phrase and the words smart phone are gone forever.

For that reason alone I'd be out and not spend big bucks on it.

Like to see this strong thread with loads of namepros interest with Canadian extension but extensions like dot us dot uk unattainable by myself will eventually find credibility as everyone is lavishing in their local traffic.

Wow, pretty dead in here lately, and probably due to the almost total lack of premium domains this week. If the last few weeks were the Hall of Very Good, this week is the Hall of Pretty Okay, with SMARTPHONE,ca and PAIL.ca being the only ones I see getting any real action, along with some scrabbling at the shallow-end of the LLL pool.

Still paring down my preorder list, as I don't want to have a big list and then pay out the ear for another pile of junk - and that's a very real possibility this week.

To paraphrase Spex, it's like closing time, and the more you look at the mass of mediocre domains, the more you convince yourself they're actually pretty good.

Hey there crownvictoria.ca.. I mean, victoriaprincipal.ca... what's a nice domain like you doing in a place like this? And don't worry, I just bought groping.ca and erectile.ca, so I'm all ready.

And Burmac/Dot-CA got SmartPhone.ca this week.

OMG, did Siber forget about the time difference this week and totally freaking screw me?

What a pile of idiots - I guess the sale to WHC is working out well. :xf.cool:

The time change killed me too, as I had to go pick up a kid at 1:45 from school, and I couldn't make any last-second adjustments to my bids.

But I won a TON (of mostly min-bid junk), but I also see you did extremely well at Baremetal on the higher-end domains you sniped me on. I had them bid more seriously at Siber, never thinking BM had a chance.

What did you do, hack Siber this week?

You certainly got the better domains, but I got some crazy values here, and even on some stuff I had bid $35-$50 on Siber.

Not getting a shot at Athletica this week really rots, as that's the type Siber gets every week. I assume that was you at FWS? I had no chance with Siber pulling a major boner on the time change, as I was on the road after 1PM and didn't get back til 2:19.

And my wife even offered to do the pickup... :xf.frown:

Not me @ FWS... Since they shut down at 10am PST, I rarely bid there since its rare they get anything anyways.

Did siber get anything this week nothing I bid on went to them

Damn, robbed the store this week RLM, and I can't believe Siber staff is that stupid they forget about the time change.

Serendipitous for you, and it sucks for me as I'm usually not required for Lyft duties on Wednesday or Thursday - I made sure to have tomorrow off... just for the raft of Siber auctions I envisioned.

MF!

Wow, can't remember how long it's been since this happened, but I'm not in a single auction tomorrow. I guess I've got the day off.

Nope, Siber was pulling a boner all day long and totally forgot about the time change.

And the CIRA strongly recommends the Registar's TBR systems be set on standard time (not daylight savings) so there is no need to change it twice a year, and I guess the sheer ineptitude at Siber goes several levels deep.

Actually, siber did get domains...

caffeinated.ca
homesecure.ca
apexcasino.ca
custodians.ca
leafrx.ca
homesdirect.ca
townpantry.ca

They were just 99 seconds too late.

Actually, siber did get domains...

That's just junk that was left over from the main run that they snagged to make a few $$$ out of a major fiasco.

Look at the registration times, a full 2 minutes afterward.

Damn, how does it feel to rob the TBR store this week? I did a little petty theft myself, but nothing approaching your level.

Someone at sibername must have realized with like 1 minute to go and scrambled to log in and fix the time. 1:39 in is the earliest domain they registered that I've found so far.

Eh, it was all $50 or under stuff, so nothing too exciting. I didn't get the couple at the top of my list...

I picked up 11, so if I sell one, I've broken even. But seriously though, none are going to be any windfall. Not a ton of commercial interest in any of them, so to make a sale, they'll most likely have to be low end, nothing I'd even be willing to report.

It is nice not to have to think about auctions though.

Looks like neither of us got the only one I really wanted this week, but as I look through my cheapo picks, I'm kinda surprised what I did get - I lost out on the big A, but to get just a few of the ones I bid on Siber, but still ended up winning, would have cost me more than the whole caboodle.

So it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

So will they be re-running the TBR or does that only happen when MyID gets left out? 😊

This is totally the fault of Siber, with absolutely no wiggle room as the CIRA even sent out an email advising registrars to have all their UTC ducks in a row.

All WHC can do is start firing people for incompetence.
