I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

If the municipalities want their extensions to stagnate then CIRA is an excellent partner.

Thanks for posting this - this a bit older news, but this one, is newer:

While .KIWI makes little sense ("By Canadians for Canadians?") under the CIRA mandate, you could see it as a test balloon for their own infrastructure. They have created a new registry infrastructure and .KIWI is the first new gTLD on it, even before they transition .CA there - and the Geos that they are hoping to get.

I think CIRA should make .CA their clear priority. When I talked to them about slow growth rates, at the AGM, they compared themselves to .UK and .DE. The problem is that .CA is far (very far) from the penetration of the market that those TLDs have...

By the way, voting in the elections is open until Sept 29th. You know what do to :)

To add to this, I think the requirement for registrars to have a Canadian presence seems antiquated and limiting to me. I've worked with foreign registrars in the past to set up a Canadian presence and I've also seen other registrars employing odd solutions to this problem. Many registrars work globally and as long as they comply with the CIRA regulations, I don't see any obvious reasons to deny them access. It doesn't match what most ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain) registries that have a registrar model do either.

Agree.

it's mainly by reaching out to the end user, I have had @ 20 inquiries this year between Domain Name Sales, Afternic and my website RedTagDomains (dot) ca

but most want to pay $10-$100 for a name. I have turned down a few $1k offers

anyone know if there is something like zfbot for .ca?

I need to reach out on some of my .ca as I need some cash flow and I have found a couple of good potential end users for some of my 3L & 4L domains but feel there are more I am not thinking of.
