I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

Is my internet broken or is the CIRA TBR page not updated with the August 7 releases? I'm only seeing July 24 and July 31 names

Where are you getting your counts from @DomainRecap ?

The site has a lot of issues with some browsers (especially Chrome), and I continually see TBR selections (but not TBR leftovers) stay on the active list for days after they've been selected.

What you're seeing is pretty zany, and you might want to flush your cache a few times and force a refresh, because right now on Chrome I'm only seeing Aug 7 and 14 domains.

The .CA To Be Released / TBR Weekly Picks Report for August 7 is online:

The number of .CA TBR listings for August 7 fell way down from last week, finally settling in at 7,593. This is a significant drop from last week’s 8,884 .CA domains, resulting in a 4-figure weekly decrease of 1,291 listings. When combined with the 8,080 and 8,541 entries from the two weeks prior to that, it gives us a new and noticeably lower (by -264) weekly average of only 8,275 TBR domains through the prior month.

For the first time in a while I didn't go for a single name, but for all the others... it's almost time to light that candle.

No idea what will go first, maybe GOOFY.CA or UBE.CA?

Weird, GOOFY, UBE, and DYI are all at 19:00:01, which isn't top.

I ordered 5. It's another down week.
I think HILT will go first. It's a decent surname, could be a HouseOfKnives type of business, it's generic enough and passes the radio test to be useful in industrial settings. Hilt is a "guard"-possibly usable in Security. The more i think about it the more I like it.

I wouldn't touch GOOFY for all the tea in China.

Apologies if it's been mentioned, I'm on this page https://cira.ca/ca-domains/tbr to learn more about how this process works. I've been on the lookout for a short and catchy .ca (just for emails / novelty / representing my country, so I can't invest end-user money into it, so I figured I should roll up my sleeves and try to snag my own).

It looks like I find a registrar that can grab TBR names, what happens if multiple people are trying for them? Is it just whichever registrar is faster, or is there an auction process? Any advice would be very helpful, thank you everyone.

Something like "goofy" isn't even that far off from what I'm looking for, not necessarily a commercial word, just something that's memorable.

That was my thought as well with HILT, but whenever I start putting these SHORT and/or MEMORABLE domains on the Hot Picks List, they either go 132nd or don't get picked at all.

And it's wasn't HILT.CA, that got selected way, way back at 19:00:07.

I'm just trying to predict what went first (like last week's biblical-studies.ca - WTF?) not what I personally like or prefer. I wouldn't pay registration for GOOFY (too much risk for Disney to bitch-slap you into oblivion), but I knew someone would go for it.

Each registrar has it's own way of doing things. Most will just ask you to put in a bid and if they catch it, all bidders for that domain will participate in an auction. Some, like Namespro, will do a sort-of auction before the TBR cutoff. So if you're the highest bidder when bidding closes, you get the name if Namespro catches it

For your second question, yes it comes down to whichever registrar is the fastest. So just because you bid $1000 for the name at Registrar A, if Registrar B catches it, your $1000 bid at Registrar A is not binding.

So it's good for you (the user) to backorder the name at multiple registrars to increase your odds of getting the name

Biblical-studies went for PPC. I had it, didn't expect Myid to snag it.

You might just want to peruse the TBR Report I produce every week, and either put a minimum bid on at NamePros.ca or try to get it at registration cost when the floodgates open.

If you want something higher-end, then you're going to have to get into the TBR bidding and auction side of things, through either MyID or Sibername (though POOL can be good 3rd choice) and then cross our fingers, as the top domains always go to auction.

I stopped doing that long ago, as parking revenue is almost non-existent. Far better to buy stuff that can sell or get you inquiries and sales leads.

Now if you have a ecommerce site you can point it to, then that's definitely something to look at, but I had a few high traffic sites that never got any real ad parking money - lots of traffic, but everyone has ad blockers and even those that don't aren't foolish enough to click on anything dodgy.

.CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for August 7 are served:

This week’s .CA TBR list dropped to approximately 7.5K domains and once again there were no premium domains to be found. It was just a lot of “very good” .CA words, LLLs, and multi-words, so there was really no need for a Top Picks list this week. Even so, some of the better Top 10 selections included...

Nah, I think it expired.

But now we'll never really know what happened - I knew guys like this growing up (most are in jail) and I can almost guarantee they said something crude to the girl, her boyfriend jumped up, and out came the weapons. Then it's "no witnesses" time.

But we'll never really know.

Noticed #53 604Dental
Smart thinking area code plus good niche

I don't know if that's a little too niche for .CA, after all, 416Dental.ca (which is like half of Canada) is available to register.

* cue Briguy running out to register it right now.

Our economy is built on 3 sources of revenue, Home Construction, Tim Hortons, and Immigration Lawyers, so it's got to be related to one of those three.
