Hi everyone!

First, I know that question/topic has probably been asked more times than there's . COM domains but I'm new to this (like brand new) I read A LOT in the past weeks but this business seems to be all about ''make your own discoveries''.
Still, no harm in asking experienced domainers what they think I'm doing wrong.
Now, mind you, I have only 9 domains that I (stupidly) hand-picked using Verisign. ( STRIKE! I guess :P )

Here are my domain names.

cashjinn
gamedivisions
globaleffective
globaleffectives
globalresponsible
guiltygames
instant-lenders (I know... the ''-'' is a HUGE nogo)
megamoneyslots
silverstarpoker

All of them are . COMs.

OK so in a post made here I read:

RULE#1: always stick to dot coms (CHECK)
RULE#2: Is it brandable? if not, don't buy (mmm mostly check!)
RULE#3: No ''negative'' words ( Guiltygames would be a nogo then but I feel it's a good one tho ... sounds good IMO)
RULE#4: shorter the better. (Well not many short .coms remaining... that was before I learned about dropped domains)

Anyway. From day 1, I put them for sale at Godaddy, Afternic, Sedo, and Dan ...
No views in ANY except Sedo.. where they are parked (probably for that same reason I guess)
Sedo views are like : 15-20 daily Uniques and 5-10 a day Offer Views... that said, I read that views mean Sweet F*** A** .. so wtv :)

Needless to say that I received no offers either...

They have been up for 1 week.

Question #1: Are these names ok or my ''noobness'' made me feel that they were when they actually suck?
Question#2: If they are ok, what would be your suggestion to help with the offers (if those tips actually exist)
Question#3: Should I wait and stick to my prices? ( OH ... speaking of prices... I priced them based on similar names I found in the markets mentioned above... that said, I later learned that the domain's age is a MAJOR factor for potential buyers.)

Anyway, excuse my incessant rambling XD and more importantly, thank you for your feedback!

-Phil- 2021 noob domainer!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i recently sold a 6L .com for high $xxxx. it was first registered in 2001. after being passed around between domainers for 20 years it was finally bought by an enduser. that will give you some idea how long it takes for a name to sell if it sells at all.

Hi

i think your post about how you found domaining
and Bob's "pet peeve" quote, which i agree with -
are the main reasons why newbies enter the game with very high expectations of sales, in short a period of time.

had you known the truth beforehand, it may have made the difference in your list.

just chalk this one up as part of the learning curve and move on.

Good Luck!

imo....

100% agreed!

Hopefully, Domaining is not the only thing I'm working on! As I said, I'll try to at least lower my loss, but I have no expectations. One can always hope!

Jeez, 20 years for thousands $ ... So basically it's more of a lottery than anything? You buy domains that you think are good, then hope that a like-minded person buys them.

Following that mindset, you'd need 1. SUPER good domains or 2. like thousands domains, to make a living out of this no?

Thank you for the reply but, I must admit, I hardly see how your comment is constructive?
Tbh, it sounds more condescending than anything but wtv :).

If you meant that a week is not enough, yes I learned that from replies on this post.

If you meant something else, would you be so kind to elaborate more please?
It is meant to be condesending as whole post needs a wake up call. It doesn't have to be constructive it can be criticised.

cashjinn
gamedivisions
globaleffective
globaleffectives
globalresponsible
guiltygames
instant-lenders (I know... the ''-'' is a HUGE nogo)
megamoneyslots
silverstarpoker

  1. cashjinn - dropped for a reason
  2. gamedivisions - GameDivision is for sale (2006 >)
  3. globaleffective & globaleffectives - EffectiveGlobal is registered GlobalEffectiveness is for sale
  4. globalresponsible - global responsible (missing the ending: ...what?), GlobalResponsibility parked for ages and for sale, GloballyResponsible dev. in use.
  5. guiltygames - guiltygame is for sale (2012 > etc, 2018 >)
  6. instant-lenders - instantlenders (2002 >) is for sale & instantlender is registered
  7. megamoneyslots - free apps don't need expensive domains (not a brand name vs MegaMoneyGames)
  8. silverstarpoker - for years nothing/in petabox, Silver Star Poker (casino) rebrands as PearlRiverPoker
Level-Up your mindset (Every end-user needs an audience. The audience is ...?: business $$$ + > or private/fun/minime/ etc < - $$$). Always, check the history and similarities.

Regards

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, all of them are brand new, which was my first mistake.

I fear that even if some of them sound good (for my taste at least), they are pretty weak.

They do seem to generate views like I said. But it seems only offers count and I don't think I'll ever get any :)

Since I'm stuck with them for a year, I'll at least try to sell them to get what I paid for... if possible XD if not, well, I tried :P

Mistakes leads to success!
Saw just now that you edited your previous post.

so you suggest I put my BIN price between 2000$ and 499$ ?

@VadimK Iberica said GuiltyGames is an ok one that could sell , do you think this one is closer to 2000$ ? The rest at 1000$ and less.

Finally, should add a “make an offer” or just BIN ?

thank you again for you time :)

GuiltyGmaes you can price tag at $999 and be ready to wait. Honestly, it's not of an exceptional quality, but MIGHT sell, as I mentioned. The rest pretty much doesn't matter how you price, cause there is a very small chance of selling...

buy a domain that other people want. Buy the domains that other domain investors want. Not hand regs. Your better off taking $500-$1000 and buying something good then spending that much on hand reg names. Here is what i would do:

1. stick to .com
2. dont hand reg
3. buy 1-2 good names
4. focus on names that are registered in 10+ extensions and are developed in at least a few of those. Your best bet when doing the sit and wait approach or outbound approach is to invest in something that will be an upgrade for the buyer.
5. visit AbdulBasit.com and read every article he has.

If your going the brandable route and want to sell on a marketplace like squadhelp, save yourself a lot of hassle registering domains and submitting only to rejected. Go to their wholesale marketplace and buy names that are already approved/listed for $20-$50 each.

6. DONT BE CHEAP. you get what you pay for. focus on the quality. lastly, think to yourself, "would i name my company that"?

One week?
That's a joke. I've been selling some not-so-bad domains in my portfolio for a couple of years. Yes, views, low ball offers, but no sale.
So, get used to it.

You have had (9) domains listed for a week. The average end user sell-through rate is normally considered to be 1% - 2% a year.

With the average sell-through rate it could take a decade to sell one domain.

You need realistic expectations.

You really need quality and quantity if you want to build a successful business based on selling domains.

As you make sales, you re-invest and over time and your portfolio grows organically.

This game is measured in years and decades, not days, weeks, months....

It could take years selling even a great name for its value to the right buyer...

Realistically your first sale won't come a year . Do have an outboubounding strategy? Any plan on who to target with current acquisitions?

Not really no, I need to review all of that... it's not what I thought it was! It's ok though, mistakes make you grow!

This learning attitude will help you go far in domaining. I also think selling one of them may give you back the reg fee you paid for everything

Thank you :)!

I do hope to sell one haha. I listed all of them at 100$ except GuiltyGames, which I feel could be worth more than that...
