Has anyone ever run into trouble with this? I've just purchased a name that will require it to be transferred in from another registrar, but it just occurred to me that I'm not sure GoDaddy verifies you own a name before you list it?
This would mean it's possible for people to list names they don't own. On GoDaddy's website it states -
And in the same breath, has anyone every purchased a name from a seller who has then just changed their mind and not transferred the name? Or maybe made an error on the buy it now price and doesn't want to honour the sale?
Of course, I'm sure both the above instances are sure fire ways to get yourself banned from GoDaddy, but would be interested to hear if anyone has been stung.
Cheers.

Edit - So I tested listing a name at GoDaddy BEFORE I typed the above was not asked to verify anything. I just went back to my inbox and found a verification email that took around 20 minutes to come through, sent to the email on that names whois. So it turns out you do need to verify ownership. However I'd still need to manually transfer the name after a sale, so some of the above concerns are still valid.
This would mean it's possible for people to list names they don't own. On GoDaddy's website it states -
"We hold the buyer's funds for 20 days before releasing them to the seller. If the transfer does not occur, the buyer has 15 days from the sale date to file a dispute. If there is no open dispute on the 20th day after purchase, we close the transaction and send the net proceeds to the seller. If disputed, we hold the funds while we investigate."
Now in my Auctions account it has "Yours On: 2016/03/10" next to the name I just bought, which I think would lead many to believe the name is on 100% on it's way. That's 13 days from now, and doesn't leave a lot of time to file a dispute if it didn't arrive. I could easily see people forgetting about the name, thinking it's a sure thing.
