I have a domain listed with sedo. I was contacted via e-mail asking if the the domain was for sale. Sedo has two rates they charge, one for offers made through their site; and another deal for a much lower percentage fee (I think 3%). I have been out of the domain business and don't have the time to mess with a transfer. So, I would gladly pay Sedo's 3% fee, but I am wondering if they will try to hit me with the 10% fee since the domain is listed with them.

I have a domain and site and someone contacted me via email asking for a price; I think they just want the domain, but in either case they can have the site as I have lost interest in updating/maintaining.

I have been out of the domain name biz for several years.

unless I too have been out of the loop, I'm of the understanding that there is only one charge, a 10% commission or $60 fee, whichever is higher, and this includes the escrow service as well.

Your best bet if you still cannot get a response from them is to email them and see what they say, but I read their TOS and I didn't read anything about the 3% you had mentioned!.

Try escrow.com and see if their escrow services are cheaper!.

You can also consider escrowdns.com.

They are relatively new and the owner is a member in this forum.
Also they are doing a promotion NO FEE for Nov.
I'm now selling a domain thru them and so far things looks good.

As per sedo external transfer details: Please be advised that if the transaction is not conducted through Sedo but the domain is listed for sale on the Sedo marketplace the transaction fee is still 10%

You can view it here: http://www.sedo.com/services/prices.php3?tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

So basically if I parked say "name.com" at Sedo and list it in its marketplace, then move to a different parking company but keep the name in the marketplace I would have to pay 10% even if the offer came through differet parking place? Are there time limits?

The percentages apply only if you use Sedo to complete the sale. The question traderone is asking relates to using the sedo escrow service to complete the sale.
This statement: Please be advised that if the transaction is not conducted through Sedo but the domain is listed for sale on the Sedo marketplace the transaction fee is still 10% applies only when using Sedo's escrow service to complete a sale that was negotiated elsewhere eg NP, email contact, Afternic etc and the domain is parked and currently listed for sale with Sedo. This is the transaction.

If the domain is parked but listed 'not for sale' or is parked elsewhere and you use Sedo's escrow service to complete the sale, then the fee will only be 3% of the total.

remove the name from sedo 'for sale', then a day later put the sale through their escrow service. Should only cost 3% then.
