Great clip here of the Domain Industry discussed on Fox News.
More exposure and acceptance seems to be the order of the day:

A bit of exposure can't do any harm, but that was poor reporting -- they could've picked someone better with a bit of "know-how" to do the report... but instead it a couple of really annoying voices! One of them sounds like shes got something stuck up her nose.

:sorry:

;p

Great exposure.

Amazing there's "one domain name for every two Americans" these days. Good old Fox!

I agree. Poor report for a huge industry. It's only going to get slicker. You watch :)

Oh man. That was awful. How do they feel comfortable reporting on things they know nothing about?

good clip, that clip is from last July though so doubt you will see any new inquiries based off of that clip

unless you live on a farm and your news is really slow and they just broadcast it 10 months later

I agree with you, but unfortunately that's quite often the case with tv presenters. They surely should have interviewed some experts from the domain industry to give a much better picture.

Anyway, it's always a good thing to have some exposure.

I really liked the fact that they showed that it's a huge multi-billion industry. That's an important thing that the general public should know about, especially when we talk about the Snowe Bill and similar initiatives that might ruin this industry.

Yea this is clip a year old at least. Seen it a few times. Leave it to Fox to sound like idiots while reporting almost any unfamiliar industry.

yes this is old news and doesn't change anything today. I'm glad they didn't expose more of it then.

I think the registrars are the ones that will mostly benefit from that news. When people find something exciting, new, or dangerous they definitely want to try it out. So I think that many will register ridiculous names that will be drop the following year. Its like 1849 in SF all over again but with high tech of course.

I agree with you to a certain extent.

Most people who are new to domaining will start by handregging names rather than buying them on the aftermarket, that's a fact and I'm sure many experienced domainers started by handregging names too.

It's true that some newbies will only handreg ridiculous names, which will only benefit registrars. However wiser newbies will read about domaining and quickly learn that they can get some nice bargains on the aftermarket.

Things would be different if Namepros started buying Superbowl ads rather than GoDaddy. ;)
