discuss Do geo domains have sales potential outside of outbound?

What’s the general opinion on geo domains without the use of outbound?

Say I invest in a geo domain but exhaust all of my leads without any bites, would said domain still hold sales potential in a general marketplace?

Obviously everyone has a different portfolio strategy so I'm interested in others experiences with holding and selling their geos.

I think it depends a few things like the quality of the geo in question and your asking price.

Sure. I sell them frequently without any outbound.

It depends on the quality.

Something like BostonRoofing.com will get end user interest.

Something like RoofingContractorsBoston.com won't. The only chance to sell that type of easily replaceable domain is really via outbound.

Of course, quality is king. My question was referring to domains that already have a certain level of targeted marketability. For example, heres some domains that I've passed up on before posting as I wanted to be sure they'd have value if my outbound efforts weren't successful:

MiamiSmokes.com
SydneyHomestay.com
StuttersToronto.com

I assume two other factors would be market size of the domains niche and the size of the geographical location.

I'm sorry, what? ;)

Anyway, I had some geo domains that sold and some that didn't. For the latter ones, I tried outbound after some time and it failed as well, so eventually I dropped them. It's not a niche for me I think.

😄 Okay, okay - In my defense its not the best name but the market size speaks volumes:

Very true, it's important to play to your strengths. That's the crux behind the question, domaining is such a volatile market, so I like the idea of being proactive with my portfolio in tandem with waiting for buyers - I think exploring multiple avenues in sales strategies allow you to hedge your bets for the best possibly of success.

On the topic of geo-domains, if anyone is at liberty to post their sales, please feel free to share.

Hi

i wouldn't even consider those as geo names.

also, for some regions like Canada/Australia, the cctld is preferred over .com

imo...

I kind of agree with this.

Also recently the economy of Canada isn't great and it has affected geo sales (at least for me) - when I started 5 or so years back Canadian geos were my best sellers and these days I have not sold 1 in like 6 months except 1 for $100 recently that too was down to the niche.

Due to these factors, I have stopped buying Canadian geos altogether.

Hi,

May ai ask you, how do you sell them without outbound? Ads with Retargeting? SEO?

I don't really do anything special with GEO domains.

I just buy what I believe are solid combos, and wait for end users.

It's the same business model I use for other domains.

In this special case, I believe hyphens are better – St-t-t-t-u-t-t-t-t-ersT-t-t-t--oront-t-t-t-to.com

Where do you get the most traffic from? Your website, NamePro, Sedo...? Thanks

Most sales are via domain search, like with GoDaddy or other registrars or lander traffic.

I just list them at the same places I list all of my domains, now just Sedo and Afternic and wait. I try to stick with things in my own state/city because living there you have a better sense of what sounds right/has high demand.

I have a domain, DenverDisposal.com for example. It gets a decent number of views. There are tons of disposal/trash hauling places and anyone starting that business in Denver probably searches for those terms. I generally only go 2 words. I just don't have the time or desire to outbound.

I also feel this. I've come across plenty of Canadian based geos, and I always want to go for them, but I always feel like they'd be better as .ca, vs .com
