it wasnt a " hacker " from the newsbrief i read it looked more like imporsinating RJ and gaining acces to the server which was the fault of the company who hired that tech support position.

All I can say is well done RJ for getting it all back up. My forum is nothing like the size of this, but it scares me thinking about what can happen. I cant imagine finding my site, the size of namepros, was hacked.

Oh.. My we lost 20+ posts.. Woppiet doo.. Maybe we should just be glad that -RJ- is alright and that the FREE forum is alright.. I know many forums which require you to pay to be part of which have gone down in the past and this is a free forum where -RJ- makes nothing out of it. I believe it was the right thing to do and -RJ- did what he could in that time.

I believe we should drop the fact we lost blah posts and some more selfish stuff and think about the forum and -RJ- as I imagine -RJ- didn't get a good night sleep and all kinds of things.

Well...... what can I say. It was a bit of a bummer really, not very helpful when you run a host off of the forum currency. I really worry about the state of security on the internet, I mean if someone can be 'Ron' he would of had to know abit about Ron for his security questions if the datacentre even asked him any. He is not a hacker, any idiot can trick people.
I knew he wasn't a 'hacker' from the moment he left that message as it was made in Front Page but no one listened to me at the time.

Anyhow, thanks Ron for getting the site backup!

o.O Damn...sad to see that. I was wondering why when I visited yesterday it was talking about database errors, etc... Well, now I know. Good job RJ on getting it back up so quick, and thank goodness nothing worse happened. Now, you should go spend some time with your wife instead of us :D And get some rest!

I seen the message and thought that 1) NamePros was hacked, 2) They were putting up a new skin or really upgrading the forum, or 3) It was a server switch. Unfortunately it turned out to be a hacker. I was hacked back in 2004 because of an un-updated Linux kernal on my server. I know what it's like, and it's bad. I'm glad though that NamePros is back in business and I hope this doesn't happen again.
