.tv Cool - My first Trademark infringement letter from SEDO - I don't think so

Just got this email about PreteenModels.tv. I can't understand how this can be trademarked. I mean how can you trademark preteen models? Or MaleModels, Teen Models, Female Models, Child Models etc...

We are writing to inform you that Sedo has received a complaint of potential trademark infringement regarding the use of the following domain names in conjunction with Sedo services:

preteenmodels.tv

Due to the famous nature of the trademark contained in the domain at issue, Sedo is forced to remove your domain from the domain marketplace and parking program at this time. This action in no way affects your registration or control of the domain, your Sedo user account or the other domains you have listed for sale or parked with Sedo. However, due to the potential of infringement of a famous mark Sedo must do the following:

- Suspend the domain name from our domain marketplace

If I had known that I would never have reged that. I stay away from those types of names. The closest I've gotten to adult names is with breasts.tv, but that can be used for breast cancer awareness.

In all honesty Richard it will do you well when you get rid of that domain IMO. I know you a good guy but there has been a lot of scrutiny on child and preteen modeling so much as there was a bill to make it illegal to have modeling photos of children in any capacity. Unfortunately many people looking for preteen models are looking for illicit reasons and it does not bode well for those types of sites or domain names it is just my opinion but I think you will be good to rid of the domain.

I mean you make a good point when it expires someone else may reg it but at least you not associated with it you have a stellar rep, you cannot censor the world I guess and there are too many names to potentially censor when it comes to an objectionable domain, but you get caught running a child porn site you going down hard, as you should. When I read first post before I read equity post I had thought this. What a catchy name for parents and there 16 year olds or 14 year olds to go Richards site, see all the talent agencys recruiting them, who up and coming models are. I didn't think xxx or something dirty. Then it got me thinking on the famous boulder murder with Ramsey and daughter factor. She got pressured into all this.

If people are offended by name I say forget them. To throw a twist into this factor, I say let's put blame on there parents weather the kid is 8 years old or 15 years old. tons of parents pressure there kids into this everyday. Sure there are pre teens looking to be a model. Curious what's the stats are.

I own some questionable names but don't ever plan to enter the porn business as a business. Just offering what viewers want to read. So basically sedo is nothing but full of hot air. They protect themselves and etc. That's ok. But yet they go out and grab trafficz.de. Let's write them a letter like what Richard received and say your doing same thing but worse and infringing on a name and etc. Then we all know Kevin hams .cm play. Where does it all end? I own bruins.tv and had hockey content up, UCLA and etc. Then I learned from being here I changed my content around offering content and what readers want to know on bears.

This trademark factor is a touchy issue for everyone. All of this can be avoided if a godaddy.com dosent allow you check out lagent trademark names like Nasdaq. That was my rookie mistake, a few months back and I did the right thing and returned them. I am keeping bruins.tv because its covering bears and etc. Sure in my head I am thinking it will move in price if Boston or UCLA wants name. Just like the cowboys.com story.

People talk about how bad domainers are but for the most part we are good. Whoever infrindges on a term they know like wholefoodsmarket.tv let them get burned. One less apple

Richard, don't give up a name and follow what you believe inn. You can make it into a lagent model and I don't see how its trademarked or a womans body part like pussy.

In fact richard you have the tech and social graph and platform to do this. You can make it into a lagent business and have profiles of 14 year olds or make it into a protest type site where parents pressure teens or pre teens in becoming models and how 12 year olds look as if there 16 and etc.

Or just give name up, which is the easiest way to do and we all know your busy and putting your time and efforts into your emerging growth .tv story with big backers! Nice job again

Sedo, this factor above had pushed my buttons some. When will it all end?? Sedo, your doing a lot worse then what Richard is doing and Richard is a nice guy and ethical. Maybe the CEO should talk at him and say how ethical I am and my trafficz.de thing. Poor taste fellow!

Equity tipped me on how sedo is anti .tv, now this, I am beginning think I pull all my .tv names off sedo. But I keep hearing how great sedo sales are and I am seeing traffic on them. Catch 22 I guess

Thanks for the post Jeff, but I tend to stay away from things that even have a whiff of immorality. It's not worth even a few thousand dollars for me. If I put up a site and people came to it thinking it was something else and it would feature preteen models, then it would make me sick to my stomach. No, this name will be retired.

I guess they made a mstake and it was not a trademark issue. Read the email they just sent me below:

You might want to contact http://www.asacp.org and explain that you registered the domain without knowing the stigma associated with it, and would like to know if they wanted to keep the name out of the hands of a potential illegal entity before you let it expire.
