Confused: Domains for sale but still available for registration?

I was looking around sedo and found a few names that are on sale there but if you go to for example namecheap, it says those name are still available to be registered. How is that possible? Is it a glitch or am I missing something? Thanks =).

Domains expired, but the ex-owner didn't delete them from his sedo account.

That's why it's always good to check the registry.
