Great deal for Washington Commanders NFL, tragic undersell for registrant of Commanders.com. Nothing less than low six-figure for Commanders.com, especially all things considered.

Rangers.com sold for $375K to Texas Rangers in 2015, equivalent to $441,000 in 2022.

The seller didn't do their research because a quick Google search would have revealed Commanders was a nickname front runner for Washington for 18 months.

Lesson: Always conduct market research when you receive an offer on a domain name BEFORE you reply to potential buyer.

Like in almost every case with great domains, domainers don't know what they are doing and continue giving away great assets for nothing.

Omg that new name is quite offensive... real commanders up and down the land will be livid, as well as those that are being told what to do by them and their families.

Did they consult all real commanders and their extended families and perform a historically accurate search of all opinions of the past to see if they would sanction such a name? Without permission from them they shouldn't use this name.

I hope they're able to reconsider this name choice.

As for the seller, they should have to give the proceeds to a military charity plus 50% extra or more. Unless you're a commander you shouldn't be profiting from that name or using it.
