CoinMena.com Coin "Middle East North Africa"

Ok I can finally announce the sale of CoinMena.com. No NDA but I agreed not to mention who bought the domain even though a quick check is easy enough. The buyer would like to remain anonymous but does not mind the publicity from the sale of CoinMena.com.

Sorry guys. Don't take this photo seriously. It's for shock value not show off value and perhaps for exposure. Just goofin off. Check out that huge melon! (unfortunately empty!) lol

IMG_20190718_182030.jpg

So this makes CoinMena.com at $25,000 the 5th largest domain sale for a domain beginning with keyword "Coin" and highest domain sale for a domain ending with "Mena". MENA stands for Middle East North Africa.

I wish the buyer the best. Met him in person in NYC. Had lunch with buyer at Veselka's, my treat.

Side Note: The buyer told me that the broker they hired to get CoinMena.com for them told them that at most CoinMena.com should cost only $25,000. Buyer told me that Broker offered $8,000+ to me which the broker did and that the broker planned to sell it to them for $25,000. Buyer did not like this arrangement he told me and decided to buy from me directly since we were already in contact prior to the broker being brought in. I really did not understand why they felt the need to bring a broker into the mix.

If it can be avoided, I really would rather not deal with a broker.

Although that's what I did with my last sale PaladinDrones.com.

When brokers contact me, as a rule I ignore, but in this case I said "why not?"

I have no issue with the broker in this case. I'd probably do the same and try to flip a domain for quick profit.

I hope giving this info will help other domainers make the right decision.

I had asked for a ridiculous price of $250,000 so I guess $25,000 was a relief to them.

First we were warned that today. Godaddy users were experiencing issues with transferring domains via Godaddy Push but not external transfers. Supposedly when you do a transfer. The Transfer Button is not made available. But we did not experience that. What we did experience was that the buyer did not receive transfer confirmation email after I had accepted the whois info change update.

The transaction took long because there was an issue pushing the domain from one Godaddy account to another Godaddy account. Had to cancel transfer. Then there was an "error". So ended up transferring to Google Domains.

In which case, Godaddy rep warned me that Google Domains an "experiment" that was being phased out. and the transfer might end up in limbo. I don't know what he was talking about as the transfer went off without a hitch over to Google. Buyer said Godaddy rep was just scaring us into doing the Godaddy push to keep the domain with Godaddy.

It's not the 6 figures I always go for but it's a good start in my liquidation this year.

I have more "Coin" and "MENA" domains if anyone is interested. Next one I'm working on I am going for 6 figures for updates follow me on here.

I hope this sale helps others with their keywords.

I hope this sale gains me some exposure for my other domains.

I also hope people will think twice before sending me $100 offers for my domains.

I also hope this Cashier's check clears tomorrow or else I'll have egg on my face.

Anyone know if I can submit this sale with Namebio without providing info on the buyer?

Good luck to everyone else on their future deals!

Edit: Forgot to mention. Prior to meeting buyer.I was late to the meeting because I stepped in dog poop. ( at least I hope it was dog poop although I looked "human" lol) Had to throw out my sneakers and buy flip flops.

Amazing, Congratulations.

Yes it was! Thanks. I really needed this.

FYI. I found out buyer had registered CoinMena.io back in May along with .net and .org. Lucky for me they did not go that usual route for a startup using .io. could have lost a sale.

Buyer told me they wanted the instant legitimacy of the .com cross boards. He said also in Middle East people only know .com.

Amazing sale written up in an informative and fun way. Wow! Super congratulations. I had no idea what MENA means before your post.

As well as NameBio you should get in contact with Ron Jackson for DNJoirnal.

I am sure brokers often are essential in facilitating big deals, but sounds not here.

Congrats again.

Hehe lol. I knew someone was going to ask me that sooner or later but I'm not here to expose anyone or blow up their spot. No my thing just wanted to shed some light on it and that's that. Like I said. I didn't like it but I can respect the hustle. I guess when you are established. You can do whatever you want really and get away with it like just Epstein it. Lol
Ha Ha ok just give us the intials, and let us think we know who it is. If your getting out, it will be a great goodbye contribution. I think it is a good time to take a step back, as aftermarket prices are pretty high, so you would be buying pretty high. Best to take those dollars, and maybe take them into a project offline that can provide steady income. I assume it was a hand reg for you based on the recent registration date, so pretty much a grand slam.

Well awesome news, I just got a very large offer $18,888 for the MENA domain I just snagged :)

Congrats on the sale, hope you reinvest wisely, I would love to know who the broker was so I can watch out for those tactics. The broker was going to offer you $8K, and pocket $17K, wow.

Most brokers have an agreement, that they get a certain percentage they can buy the domain under the buyers max offer, but to pocket the full take, and make more than twice the owner, that is harsh, put the name out there, and shake up their game.

Mena (Měna) also means "currency" in Czech language.

Congrats on the sale!

Well the advantage you had here apparently was meeting the guy in person. Even getting a buyer on the horn may often work better than email - because with email the potential buyer gets to think too long, and sometimes this will work against closing the deal at a high price, as second thoughts might settle in. Think - car salesman, do they close the deal best in person, or via email? Why do you think the car dealer always wants to get you into the showroom for any potential deal?

To some extent we are not selling domains here but providing therapy, as we convince the potential buyer that what we have solves his problem. How good you are at having the potential buyer convinced that your domain is his solution, depends on how good of a salesman (or therapist :xf.cool:) and talker you are.

ANYway, avtar629's approach is to stick to his guns and try to exact top dollar. This is the old school domaining philosophy, that the way to get rich is to wait for the right buyer. I still use that approach with some of my top domains, but these days too I am more flexible, and for many of my domains my philosophy might just be, "Ahhh give me a few grand and shut up." The latter approach results in a lot more closed sales rather than trying to exact five figures always.

But, the advantage to this "hold out for top dollar approach" is, that when the few top dollar sales are made, at least even one five figure closing makes up for missing anywhere from ten to thirty of the $1000 - $3000. offers. What would Not make sense, would be turning down a bunch of low to mid four figure offers and then eventually accepting just one offer in the same range. If you're going to hold out for top dollar must be steadfast and consistent with your resolve (and have the caliber of domains that are worth that kind of money in the first place).

Also wanted to comment about brokers.

I don't like the fact that they offered $8,000 for the purpose of reselling for $25,000.

But I respect their hustle and can't blame them either.

The buyer also suspected that if the broker bought for $8,000 the broker might have gone above $25,000. So since we already were emailing he took my offer. That plus I gave him a deadline of 7 days to accept or the price will go back to $250,000.

Hopefully. Wait till I post the sale over at my LinkedIn with 18,000+ followers.

Might be time to unload some Coin and Mena domains at auction for those that have been holding.

Crypto just recently became Sharia compliant.

Anyways. Thanks for all your well wishing. Let's get back to work shall we? I officially popped my five figure cherry. Any guesses? All down hill from here?

I think the future is so bright I have to wear shades?

(My old middle life crisis fart bought a straw hat to treat myself. Damn hipsters got to me. Lol)

Congrats on the sale (if the cashier's check clears). Telling the buyer that this domain name can be resold for more though... probably not in this universe. Even 25K is like winning the lottery because someone who could afford it happened to want it.

I had to come back to this one since you mentioned the check clearing. Obviously this was my main concern today because at one point the buyer took back the check because he was getting so frustrated with the Godaddy domain push process. you can never be too careful. But it went fine without a hitch.

Although, after depositing the check I had asked the bank manager if there was anyway after depositing to confirm if the check was legit or not. He immediately told the bank teller to cancel the deposit and reverse it before it was too late.

I cannot make this folks!

So he asked me why I would doubt the check was real or not. I said no reason just me being skiddish as always.

So he said if it was fake and it was deposited. That my business bank account would be closed permanently and I would not be able to open a bank account with my bank and a record of the fake check would circulate among other banks making it difficult if not next to impossible to create a new account anywhere.

I said. "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????!?!?!?!"

So I had them call bank of america. and of course hold hold hold hold. Got fed up. Took the check and just walked over to the bank of america branch few blocks away in the heat today.

and they confirmed it. Internal calls within a bank always get priority . NO HOLD. And the check was cleared as legit so had to walk back to my bank and deposit the check.

I would do this again no question because no way would I risk my bank account closing and forever never being able to open a bank account.

And it doesn't even matter if it's your fault or not?

That's right. Not even if someone gave you a fake check and you didn't make it. You are just the "guy who tried to deposit" a fake check into your own bank account.

That's crazy. Never knew this in my life.

learn something everyday. Hope this helps.

Update on CoinMena.com

The buyer finally got around to changing the DNS. For a little while coinmena.com was still pointing to my Efty page. Now it is officially showing their website and it looks great.

Best of luck to the buyer!

My other domains are available.

Bituae.com
CoinUAE.com
CoinEmirates.com
Dubaibit.com
UAEBit.com

And just hand reg now. EmiratesBit.com

A word of advice. Follow me as I will be in liquidation mode very very soon via auctions. No reserve.

Mostly crypto domains and other niches. Priced to sell with plenty of room for you to flip.

Thanks for all the well wishing it is all very much appreciated.

It's been mentioned often on here about my inventory and this sale.

There is always one in every bunch that poops on your parade. Not that I need to defend the way I handle my business but this money will help with giving me breathing room to just finally get around to setting up domain auctions to liquidate my inventory. So not really worried. Negativity is counterproductive and poison to the soul.

I choose to be positive if not just for myself but for everyone else who need it.

Negativity is a choice not a rule.

Lol thanks. Every dog has its day. Even the dumb ones. Lol
Hahaha, I was going to say, "you da man!"

.....but it's more appropriate in this case to say, "You da MENA!"

I tend to agree with the seller and not to publically out the broker.

Let's face it, that kind of dealing is not criminal.

I would say that it's a lesson to price your domains where you are comfortable so it is a non issue.

This business is all about making more than the last guy. Valuable domain owners are constantly offered deals where, if they sell, the next guy can make 5x, 10x, 100x what they paid.

It's the world we live in.

It's not a broker at that point. A broker by definition brokers a deal and gets a predetermined commission. This action is more akin to front running, and the broker is not doing it against a big auction house, he's doing it against you, and you, and you, and you. You think it is right that the broker was trying to take $17k out of this man's pocket?

@Avtar629 Well... let's put it this way. The domain itself doesn't warrant 25K. It's a handreg from 2017 and yesterday I think nobody at Namepros would have paid you $50 for it and besides this perfect end user nobody probably would have paid much more. If this turns into a huge company... then it would still be the company that warrants a higher price, not the domain. Either way, it's an impressive sale that sort of reminds me of some of Mike Mann's sales. Having a lot of domains can sometimes land ridiculous prices when the right buyer comes along.
Some projects need the right name to work. That is not domainer thinking, that is project and marketing (i.e. selling the concept to the market) thinking. Nobody spends this kind of money because it is the first name they see.

The shoe has to fit and it doesn't matter if it's 10 years old or made yesterday.

I thought about it more and came to the conclusion that perhaps I shouldn't be so decisive about a word that I'm not familiar with. I don't plan on investing in Mena names, but crypto is a crazy world full of trends and people throwing money at things even if they don't make sense at the beginning. Or ever. So I guess anything can happen. This domain that I think almost everybody here except for @Avtar629 wouldn't have paid reg fee for yesterday, now sold for 25K. So maybe it'll sell for even more money one day. If the Mena keyword will indeed become strong and supported by more and more big sales, then naturally that can affect the price of the domain name regardless of the business that will be built on it. My instinct says that 25K still seems like a high number to reach, but I guess time will tell. Good luck to all of you Mena investors out there. It will be interesting to see what will happen.

That is insane. A two day old domain and already got that offer?
Im amazed I havent a six digit bid on menahousing.com yet if that the case.

Just kidding, inspiring and awesome stuff.

Just wait. I suspect I'll be getting another buyer for my

BlockMena.com
MenaBlock.com
ChainMena.com

But I think CarsMena.com is a good buy too for investment.

Would be great for a website about cars. Targetting a population of 420 million.

@Avtar629 did you have any luck getting it to NameBio and/or DNJournal or where you can't disclose the buyer's name they could not list them?

Would be nice to get the high value MENA sale in a public listing, if possible, but I understand it may not be.
