This domain with a .ws extension are the exact words containing an OVT over 1 million. Being that it's not a .com or any of the other major extensions, is there any real value to it yet, taking into thought search engines don't consider domain extensions when searching. Seemed like a good one to snatch up anyway due to the off the chart OVT, maybe to sell to any of the car part sites looking to brand themselves further. Thanks in advance to all those that respond.

OVT meaning the number of searches from the Overture/Yahoo search tool, right? Even without using that you can tell it will be popular, but not as much as car parts, but overture just puts them all together anyway.

The domain would be great for a site that sells car parts, but not for branding, since it's a generic term. And I would not expect much type-in traffic either because of the .ws.

Still, this would be good to buy in the $x-low xxx range in my opinion, for both parking now and possible sales later on.

Keyword bids for "car parts" are ranging from $0.45 to $1.30 a click, which is ok, but the potential for daily clicks is from 6-154 which is good. (These are not what you can expect to get, but indicate there is potential to earn some money from parking the domain).

This would be a great domain to use with an affiliate program like JC Whitney and auto content perhaps with a blog? If someone has the time to work on a blog or site I would do that. If not then I would try to park it with a service that will let you do some link building for the domain. Optimize the parking page and work on getting some links to it and I think you will be happy with the results. If not, I would try a different parking service until you find one that works.

Thank you very much for your time and detailed response. And you're correct in what I was referring to in regards to OVT. I've been skeptical about the OVT tool b/c it rarely works and I've heard many pros and cons about it. I recently purchased byownersale.info b/c overtures for "by owner sale" were in the 6 digit range, even more than 'forsalebyowner'. I checked the ovt again later that day and 'by owner sale' didn't even show up.

I'm new to this, but your above comments have been most helpful and I thank you again.

Trafffic Estimator

I use the Overture tool data to optimize web sites. I have been doing this for many years and it works well, but you have to keep some things in mind. One is that they combine words with and without the "s" at the end (word and words for example). They also show you a word order that combines more than one order ( "proper nouns" and "nouns proper") are both displayed in one of those two ways.

For SEO is is not too critical. Having the words in the proper or most popular order is best, but having them next to each other is also good. But for domains, it may be more important to have them in the proper order that most people use to search with. In some cases it may be better to have them reversed, since there may be less competition. I prefer to use the most popular word order.

So how can you do this with OVT? Well, you can't. What I suggest is to use the Google Traffic Estimator. Here is how I use it:

- Enter in one keyword, like "baseball" without quotes. Then enter it again with brackets "[baseball]" to see numbers for the keyword entered without anything else.
baseball
[baseball]
- Choose Max CPC. If you want to see the high bid range, use up to $100. I generally use $50 unless I am check lawyer or financial keywords.
- For the daily budget, enter a big number like 500 or 9999 it doesn't matter since you aen't going to be spending anything. :)
- I generally select all Countries, but if you are parking where only US traffic is used, you can change that to get a more accurate number.

In this example you will see two things: 1) that the keyword without brackets has a higher search volume, and this is because the system is showing you the total for "baseball" and also things like "baseball game". It's not accurate for what we want, but still gives you an idea of the popularity. And 2) that the bid price range for just baseball is lower than the other varations. (glove, bat, ticket, players, etc.) And this is how it should be since the keyword by itself is very un-targeted in this case.

Try using this for multi-word domains and you may find some good ones! :)

P.S. Once you find keywords you like, enter them into Google or Yahoo and see how many ads show up. If there are no paid ads, then they are not as good for parking. If there are lots of paid ads then those should be good.

A few things to know about Overture:

1. Words are not necessarily in order - "by owner sale", for e3xample was more likely reflecting searches of "sale by owner".

2. A term like "car part" reflects both singular and plural and even lumps in "auto part" (singular and plural) into the results.

3. Data can often be just plain wrong.

Best thing to do when using OVT to reg names is to 1) cross reference your results with google results to make sure you have the words in order and 2) make sure it makes sense.

As for the name carpart.ws, I'm afraid it's not worth the buy imo. The singular term combined with the .ws extension kill it.

If you are looking for the instant resale in .Ws market, I would have to say it's quite tough. The .ws market has not matured, it's still pretty tough to get decent sales in that extension. Given that, Car terms have rich advertising, and are usually expensive. Good luck :tu:

I would not buy it.

The .ws extension is horrible and I think the plural carpartS is much better. But this is just my opinion,

Cheers
