So I listed a domain I own i-medreview.com for sale yesterday on here and DNF. It was listed in DMOZ under a medical category for at least the last 4 years and maybe longer (I bought it from the previous owner about 2 years ago.)

Today I get a post on DNF saying it's not in DMOZ. I do a check of DMOZ and don't find it.. I search GOOGLE and it is in GOOGLE Directory under the DMOZ categorey it was in for the last 4 years. (GOOGLE directory is the DMOZ feed for those that didn't know.)

So I go to this same category on DMOZ.org and it isn't there. Well I don't see it as any coincidence that after 4 years listed it disappears from DMOZ the same day or next day after I list the domain for sale.

Moral of the story if you have a domain in DMOZ don't list that as a selling point because some loser rat has nothing better to do then to report it to DMOZ (could be a DMOZ editor but they are essentially the same thing.)

Is it an accident? What is the logic of DMOZ to remove a domain from it is list if the Domain is under selling?

Doesnt necessarily have to be a "rat" per se. DMOZ is a human edited site so they could infact search the domain forums themselves for "DMOZ" and grab a bunch of domains to delete.

And anyway, DMOZ doesnt have the appeal or the influence it once had over the SE's.

Rat? Am i the only one who believes that Dmoz should not have any parked domains in their database? I'm sorry but im working hard to get my content sites to Dmoz lets say, and i dont want to see there spam, as the whole concept will lose its value.

I wouldn't even bolder with DMOZ.

If your domain was a parking page then I can understand 100%...why would DMOZ want a parked domain in their directory for goodness sake?

Sorry, but if it was parked then I'm with DMOZ....Granted, its not as good as it once was...but removing a parked domain is the right thing to do :imho:

Amen. I'm slightly surprised to read about DMOZ doing something so efficiently, but the more this happens the better.

Great post. NOT!

People scare me sometimes. And this thread is silly. How dare a search engine clean out their database of parking pages, in order to provide quality content to the people using the Internet for more than buying and selling domain names. How DARE they!
