So yesterday I bought the domain Cannabis.co throught sedo for $925, clearly priced low

The seller is a well known domainer according to the purchase and sales agreement

Today I receive an email from sedo saying the transaction has been cancelled by the seller as they no longer own the domain

Who owns it if Rick Latona doesn't? Has this been cancelled because it was priced low?

Same as marijuana.co, which he also owns at the same registrar

My point of the thread was to say I think he still owns it but has told sedo to cancel it because the price was set wrong! Fair?

You already saw it was too good to be true so you should have expected not to get the domain, specially when you know you are dealing with someone who knows its value very well.

So if Rick does still own it, then it is fair that he doesn't sell if he has priced it too low on a 'Buy Now' listing? Thought sedo was legally binding?

well... it's either binding or banning... maybe the problem is when its neither

They will just ban him if they want to. As for you there is nothing you can do, not even suing the seller as they suggest. How can you prove for example if this is caused by bulk update of certain domains and this slipped? You wont so this is a lost issue and you should simply move on

And showing seller info while hiding yours just because you want your domain is childish.
You have no idea what happened.

It's a well known business with a well known business address, not sure your point!.....and of course I want the domain, that's why i paid! I had no clue who was selling it until the sales agreement came up!

My annoyance is why sedo keeps letting people do this!

I might have it all wrong and it could be a fake person, but it just frustrates when you think you snipped a good one! I have had sedo cancel transactions in the past before when sellers are unwilling to sell their domain after not pricing it right with a 'buy now' price

So sedo when it mentions "legally binding" .....its nothing but words!

oh well!

Hi

here is a reverse situation, which is related to your issue:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/ol...domain-sells-what-to-do.1214688/#post-8017582

point:
If rick was old owner and listing still had his info as the seller... but the domain is now owned by registry, then they are not obligated to proceed with transaction.

it would be same scenario, if you bought a domain which was listed at sedo with a BIN, but you purchased from seller elsewhere and seller never removes name from sedo....
then later someone else purchases same name on sedo at BIN with a lower price than you would sell for now.

are you obligated to sell the name on sedo for that price?

understand the frustration, but you know... if it's too good to be true, then it rarely is

imo....

I always buy domains cheaply, done it with others I bought very cheap and flipped, which include Fruity (com), Casino (.io), Hoverboards (com) CryptoCasino (com) ......to name a few, so this situation didn't seem so unreal! But I understand your point and appreciate the input!

Onwards to the next one.....

we all buy cheaper then flip.
but say honestly what that domain is worth to u...or what u would list it for then say honestly how many times u bought cheaper other names .. with this kind of multiple ... never.

It's still on Afternic for $925 BIN: https://www.afternic.com/domain/cannabis.co

Registrant: .co Internet S.a.s.

Looks like it's just sold on Afternic too now (or maybe removed). Don't you get account restrictions for this kinda stuff?

This name would never last more than a day of two with that BIN, so it has to be a recent listing/price change rather than the old owner leaving up some old name accidentally.

@mrcurly - Why not just send Rick an email and ask him?

What do you mean by flipping.
1.You buy it for investment, and try to sell fast.
2. There is a buyer already, and you get the domain first to sell to the actual buyer.

Which one?

If the answer is 2 do you use your own account, or create a new account everytime?

Way underpriced for a great domain! I've let some slip and/or underpriced, but always held up my end of the bargain. Sorry to hear of your troubles GLWT

You know I have to say this has happened to me on afternic, I had a set of domains and many similar names, and none of the whole portfolio was floor price under 500 and all these sets of domains i priced X,XXX, and all of a sudden 2 days later i get a bought message for 50 dollars on one of them, and this has happened twice before now, I never set 50 dollars and i always double check the prices wth at least a skim and i knew the cheapest i even had was a .xyz for 180, i told them hell no am i selling this domain i just sold a similar one for 2800 and it was worse and you can see i listed everything else at these prices. And this had happened before and i had literally just checked the price after posting, I think sometimes it has to do also with when i am putting on afternic from godaddy etc it seems to sometimes reset my pricing, but if they had fast transfer on for the two times its happened id be out good 10,000 not end user but reseller price

Rick doesn't own it. Both Cannabis.co and Marijuana.co have been registry reserved names for a long time....
