C'mon, there must be at least one website which you will use daily/weekly. The problem is you don't have a clue about it.
Yet.
Some NS readers might have the same problem and only you know how to solve it for them. Don't be greedy, share your knowledge now.
Please send your suggestion(s) and EXCLUDE any site you are affiliated with (you can always put it under your signature). Even if your site is cool/practical/essential, please do not break this rule.
Our volunteers (and most likely many of you NP junkies as well, I guess) will vote for the top 100 in let's say 6 week's time.
Rules: Keep each entry within 1-3 lines, do not self-promote, do not complain about other entries, do not quote previous entries, do not self-destruct. You can always do these things elsewhere.
That's it. Thanks!
I'll start with my favourites, in no particular order:
1) $0.89 .info domain registrations: http://www.vdnw.com (all free and $0.75 offers seems to be gone by now)
2) 10 things you didn't know last week: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/magazinemonitor/index.html#a008981 (check BBC's magazine as well: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/default.stm)
3) Over two hundred pre-computer games: http://www.itsyourturn.com (who has time to play anyone in real time? - your opponent can alway wait till next week!)
4) Very reliable and simple Time Zone clocks: http://www.podzinger.com (no Java/Flash required - works on my XDA Exec as well)
5) One-click newspaper front pages with links in case you see something of interest: http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages
6) Ms Dewey's browser: http://www.msdewey.com (it will probably not make it to the top 100 but it still is the coolest-looking browser, at least for a day or two)
7) Good old trusted Notebook: http://netnotebook.net/index_ntb.htm (priceless when you decide to take a RTW trip, works even in censored China)
8) Easy to navigate Podcast/YouTube search engine: http://www.podzinger.com
9) Easier and less aggressive than Live365: http://www.radiotower.com (thousands of REAL radio stations worldwide)
10) All major search engines on one page: http://www.bjorgul.com (who said all alternative entries will be listed on Google? btw, scroll all the way down for KartOO)
11) When I shop, I do it in two clicks: http://www.focus.fr/uk/ (try PS3 and then click on any decent company, even sponsors take you directly - they also have a clear A-Z list here: http://www.focus.fr/uk/c/A_0_100.html)
12) Decent WhoIs lookup: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp (detailed and without annoying "type these letter/numbers below to prove you are not a robot")
13) Free expensive software, no need to bend/break the law: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com (if you haven't discovered this one, you have probably lost a lot of soft-money already)
14) Internet's genealogy: http://web.archive.org/collections/web/advanced.html (try your favourite page and laugh at their first creations)
15) Everything, ever: http://www.refdesk.com/ (how big can your brain get before it starts pushing your eyes out?)
16) In case you still don't know how to do everything: http://www.ehow.com
(similar to Yahoo's answers but more mature/credible)
17) Translate anything from one page: http://translation.langenberg.com (you don't speak what?)
18) Yet another information database: http://www.itcompany.com/inforetriever (trust me, it's not just for librarians)
19) Great Mac/PC shortcuts: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75459 (Mac) & http://support.microsoft.com/kb/126449 (PC)
Couldn't think of #20 - your turn!
