I'm Canadian.. and since I can own .us due to business dealings in the US.. I don't believe thier new Casino / gambling law applies to me.

I would think it would largely depend on where the casino was incorporated.

has this new law passed? I saw people post a thread about it being introduced, but I never saw any follow-up. If anyone has a link, it'd be much appreciated as I can not seem to find it.

It passed the House, but not the Senate. It probably won't get through the Senate, at least not this year. Because this year marks the end of the 109th Congress, all bills will die and have to be re-introduced in January when the 110th Congress convenes (and so re-passed in the House, and tried again in the Senate too). It's probably not going to happen anytime soon.

well then i don't see anything wrong with it, especially if it's just generating revenue from other casino/poker sites, with ads or affiliate programs, whatever...

If you operate a casino or poker room from within the US however, you can be expected to have a knock at your door...

I thought it was a .us ? Either way I wouldn't worry about it, because there are tons of poker related sites that have ads and/or affiliate links. Regardless if it's .us or .com, the government still can find out that you're a US citizen...

Also, if you really feel the need to be on the safe side, only do affiliate programs with online casinos/poker sites operating under the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, because they are an Indian tribe that has legal gambling rights in the US. FullTiltPoker.com for example is licensed by them... You'll know that the government has cracked down long before they come looking for you, because those sites will go offline and the Pro Poker players who own Full Tilt will be arrested, which probably wouldn't go over so well.

I wouldn't really worry too much. Think of it as a resource issue. The feds have their hands full trying to figure out ways to bust the big fries, the thousands of U.S. citizens who use PPC programs with casino affiliates are probably way down on their list.

There are a countless number of websites like yours. You don’t actually operate a “Gambling” website, although you supply links to sites which do provide such activities. While I do suggest that you supply a well worded Privacy Policy, I don’t think you’ll encounter many obstacles caused by the extension itself.

Best wishes,
Kimmy
