Something odd, guys...

....I won a domain at the SnapNames Silent Extended Auction of DOMAINfest, that ended on 31 Jan 2008.....But, I haven't heard from SnapNames at all since I won - no confirming email, no invoice, nothing (usually, you get these within minutes of the bidding ending).

The domain shows in my SnapNames 'Pending Orders' account as me being the winner, and showing the correct winning bid amount - and its listed as sold, with the price I bid, on the results page for the Live & Silent auction that SnapNames ran at DomainFest...

Over 4 days, I've emailed SnapNames twice about it - no reply....I've tried calling, but all I get is a voice message....!!

This is very odd....Have I won the domain, or not?

Anybody else had this experience with SnapNames, after they won an auction?....Or, can anyone tell me what's going on?

Generally speaking, I never hear from SnapNames about winning drops until they've been able to charge my credit card for the names. Is all your payment info on file with them and up to date? If the name shows up as "Payment pending," it probably hasn't gone through yet.

Thanks for the input, dag...

Yes, all my payment info is up to date in my Account + contact info etc....and the name (4 days later) is still showing as 'Payment Pending'.

I notice that the name in WHOIS still shows the original owner - and not in escrow (as you'd probably expect for a 'project' auction, like auctioning names at a major conference - ie DominFest....Certainly Moniker take all names into escrow, when they auction them at Traffic).

Its all odd.

Did I hear that SnapNames had changed ownership in recent times?...Anyone know if that's the case - and, if so, who owns SnapNames now?

Or, does anyone know of a senior executive at SnapNames (and tel/email address)? Someone I could get to directly, to help me resolve this?

Appreciate any thoughts.

One other thing you might want to check: your credit card company might have put a temporary hold on your card. That happened to me with Snapnames and NameJet orders, and it took a few days to figure it out -- the CC company wanted to make sure these were legit. They said that a lot of orders on the Internet like that send up a warning flag.

DT, this was tagged on to the Live Auction at DomainFest, and they may still be sorting out all of these auctions out still. It's just a few days, so if it shows you won it, I'd be patient a little longer. Also, Jan. 31st was a Thursday, and we just had a weekend, which here in the states most people take off work, so in business days, it's only been 1 or 2 days.

Snapnames noted that names were to be transferred to them prior to the auction to make transfers easier. This was not a requirement, and I'm sure more than a few didn't do so, and this could be holding up the process. They need to get the owners to transfer them to them before they can charge the winners, and make the necessary new transfers etc. They're pretty good overall, so I'd give them a few more days.

Yes Snapnames was recently bought by Oversee.net.

Thanks, Hawkye, you're probably right....This auction was outside the normal Snapnames system - so, I think the normal after-auction channels kind of didn't work so well...

...At the suggestion of a member, I contacted a senior VP at Moniker (SnapNames group took over Moniker recently), asking for assistance...

I got a phone call within a few hours in response to that, and I've now received an email from SnapNames asking me to progress payment for the domain....So, I'm sure it will progress normally now.

Creds to the Moniker people for sparking - and getting some movement.

Thanks to all for your input.
