Is it possible for a business owner to choose not to advertise or publicly showcase their items for sale?

I’m curious why some members, including pros, don’t share their portfolios in their signatures or engage in public transactions. I’ve noticed this and want to understand their patterns to learn from their success and implement effective strategies for my education, not for any hidden agendas. I know some vips who offer great advice, yet their assets are often absent, no auction sales, or private sales pages in their signatures. Why do they seem to hide their names? Can anyone really sell or conduct business without any marketing? I know their dn are likely listed in marketplaces, but that alone doesn’t seem sufficient.

What’s the secret? I’d love to hear thoughts on this, as there may be insights behind this behavior. I’m still learning and want to improve as much as I can.

Do these pros own their own domain names? You can’t teach what you don’t practice.

Good questions. I'm sure more experienced investors than me will have lots to add to this.

Just because they're not promoting them here doesn't mean they're not doing so on the many other available platforms out there.

As far as promoting them here, that mostly only works for wholesalers since almost everyone here is domaining themselves. For those who only look for end user sales, this isn't really the place for that.

Good, don't ever stop!

Keep in mind, social media can also be leveraged as part of your outreach campaigns. For instance, NamePros has a group on FaceBook where people share the links to their landers and marketplace listings: https://www.facebook.com/groups/namepros - Which reaches a slightly different audience of viewers.

Might be something to consider... :)

Just saw this post from @Eric Lyon in one of your other threads and thought it was worth repeating here as it's another way some promote.

Some reasons were given in a similar thread.

Thank you for your response.

Lyon's reply is quite different from this trend.

What else do you think i am promoting? Please don't assume or think negatively.

Anyway, the reason I'm asking is this: I had a newly registered name on my signature {(Auction: (.com)} for a month, and within a week, the ss rose to 72%. I had it removed quickly, so I'm not entirely sure what happened. I would like to hear other members' opinions. I've checked the NP ss, and it's good; maybe there's some success in not keeping your name publicly.

No negativity implied. I sometimes use the word promoting in place of marketing.

Once a name sells, your profit basically becomes public knowledge.

Not something most people care to advertise.

And definitely not something you see shared in other niches.

In short, Yes!

But it generally requires a liquid/illiquid domain that attracts attention organically.

If a domain is good enough, people will seek it out regardless where it's listed or what kind of landing page is used.

An example of domain liquidity/illiquidity that might attract inquiries without marketing them can be found here: https://www.namepros.com/threads/so...han-any-other-registrar.1361289/#post-9446961

Some keep portfolios private because discretion often protects pricing power and deal flow.

Agree with pretty much everything said above. For me personally there is just not a single reason to have the portfolio listed here, as it's domainers and resellers only on NP.
