I remember reading an article about a guy who make like $20k a day from buying deleted domains with traffic and parking them.

Funny reading, thanx. Al things stated are true. Good point - more attention from media and general public. Bad point - more players in the industry. Dotcoms in 2000, Namedots in 2005.
