Bloodshed in Iraq "Worth It", Says Bush

"Like most Americans, I see the images of violence and bloodshed. Every picture is horrifying and the suffering is real," Bush said, according to excerpts released ahead of time by the White House. "It is worth it."

Easy for him to say... thousands of Americans are bearing the brunt of his decisions. It's seems a bit irresponsible to say anything about it being "worth it", even taken out of context.

(EDITED TO AVOID INVESTIGATION INTO MY REMARKS FROM THE FBI)

BTW- I'm a Republican... <waves flag>

He actually said... "It's worth it???" Phew... it may well be but those aren't the words I would have chosen. :td:

we're talking about the lives of 32 million Iraqi's. yes, it's worth it.

it was worth it to save 12 million Jews during WWII, so why not saving 32 million Iraqi's today?

Because I wonder if the situation were reversed, if they'd be over here helping us?

Seems lots of Republicans (and I love both Republicans and Democrats equally :) ) are taking some exception with the current state of affairs, IMHO. This is - to say the least - problematic for the current Administration, both from what I've read ... and in my two sense.
God Bless us all!

Excuse me if I've become disillussioned (realistic?) but we're not talking about just me.. heck if it were me, I'd go over and do it myself.. but we're talking about brothers, sisters, fathers, sons, and moms too... aunts, uncles.. you get the picture.

I hardly see the actions in Iraq as selfless acts to save and liberate the iraquis. There is an interest behind it.The problem is the U.S administration thought it was going to be quick and instead itยดs backfiring big time.
On the other hand, you had a crazy, murdering dictator oppressing his country...

Exactly.. the US wouldn't be doing this without an agenda.. that's what bothers me...

As for the crazy, murdering dictator, I won't let you talk about our President that way...

(NOTE TO FBI: WHAT APEARS ABOVE IS POLITICAL HUMOR, PREVIOUSLY PROTECTED UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT.)

IMO, we were right to go to war, and so was Bush.

Iraq, would not be a better place, if we had left it, however, it wouldnt be a worse place either.

HOWEVER, 5 years down the line, things will have calmed down, and the Iraqi economy will be getting to its feet, and they will become a self-ruling country :)

So, worth it, in the long term IMO.

Hehehe, watch out your window for the black helicopters...

As someone living in a country with an authoritarian disguised as a democratic president I can tell you it`s not easy to take a clear stance on this subject.
You have a dictator killing the people in a country and then you have another country which will liberate your people for a price which will be paid for years. Both in terms of monetary and natural resources and in lives.

I think 5 years is being optimistic.. it took Vietnam how long to recover?

If we went in for strictly humanitarian reasons, I'd agree with you.. <voice trails off>
