On Monday, GoDaddy announced it is acquiring Neustar’s domain name registry business and renaming it GoDaddy Registry. After long resisting vertical integration, GoDaddy decided it was time to own a registry business. GoDaddy will now be both the wholesaler and retailer when a Neustar domain is registered at GoDaddy. Now how is that going to effect .biz domains?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
But you know at least that you have a premium domain. This is an advantage... as it says so nicely: we have to wait and watch the market ...

just because a register says it’s a premium doesn’t mean shit.... if no one in the real world wants the domain it’s not a premium...

theirs no cap on .biz domains

Premium renewal (charge different renewal) not allowed, according to .biz registry deal

“The Registry Operator must have uniform pricing for renewals of domain name.”

“determining Renewal price, the price for each, must be identical price all other renew at time”

Somehow, .biz registry agreement does not forbid different prices in initial registration.

So yes, it’s a poorly worded agreement that prohibits prem renewals, but somehow allows egregious uncapped prices Year-1 registration

We shall see my friend... they can do whatever they want apparently...

The most important thing is the trust building in the extension. Otherwise investors turn away

Can anyone explain the extra $10,000 apparently added on this domain.

I'm assuming if this sold the buyer would have to pay an extra 10,000 on top of original price.

I can't imagine what compelled you to register unseen.biz. Was it the searches? Estibot values it at $30. I would ask your registrar, Epik, about that link.

Are all LL.biz have been registered?

All 2L dropping are reserved by the registry?

I have ww.biz and couple of other 1 word biz domains. No interest from endusers. Also my renewal is $13.33

you probly wont ever get an interest from end users... maybe just other domain investors. As of right now renewals are cheap but the cap is off now.

I only have T1.BIZ domain. But who's going to buy it? It doesn't matter if the registry don't releasing dropping LL.BIZ domains. Scarcity isn't going to make them any more valuable. There isn't a market for them :( The damage is already complete as far as .BIZ domains are concerned. It would need a miracle to change the perception. IMHO.

When there are some "good" sales with this extension again, it can be could become attractive for domainers and domain investors. But now so many other extensions...

Random letter 4Ls .biz all now seem to be 89.25.

thats so true... i didn't know they already intrudoced prem pricings.

all i did notice is that most of the biz names i was dropping which were basically handpicked 1worders for me, were getting reserved...

so what exactly is happening here? we have prem pricing on .biz now like on .co? anyone knows whats happening to renewal prices on the names that are prem fee to register?

im probably still gonna keep a few names for a while like incometax mtb and couple more.. cause they already had few offers... but otherwise, its DROP THEM ALL! :)

I brought it when I first restarted domain buying. We all make mistakes early on :xf.grin:

yesterday ai.biz dropped but was reserved by the registry. I've never seen that happen with .biz before. Not sure if its related or not, seems too soon.

It was reserved before as well, they just changed the way it is reserved. Happened to some other
ISO 3166-1 codes as well (AI = Anguilla)

Before they were registered by NeuStar and had this in whois:
Registrar: Registry Reserve Country
Registrant Organization: Neustar, Inc.

Now they look like they're free but show "Reserved Domain Name" in whois.

They've reassessed a lot of names. Mytown.biz, once you put it in the cart, is now 29.50 instead of 14.99 (namesilo).

That is the lowest "premium" tier.

Highest Tier would go 10.5K instead of 14.99

Every extensions have chance to have good profits if the combination is right, for example: Casino.Shop (reserved by registry), lol.

I still own Owner.biz

I mean come on -- business owner.
Owner. Business
Business Owner

Am I crazy? Or would I have a category killer in .BIZ?
