I'm sure there are more but I only know of 2 buyers on BIDO. They seem to have a lotta auctions but never enough buyers to sustain this endeavor. Even their Accelerated auctions typically go without a sale. eBay is a better place to sell domains than BIDO. Man, I can't believe I'm saying that but I am. lol

Sadly I have to agree :( Big fan when they first appeared and sad when it closed. I have tried to sell a couple of names there now it has come back but the buyers are just not there. Great guys and good ideas just not sure how they are gonna progress to make it work ...

I guess I am gonna be shot down in flames here :bah: but it is just how I feel at this time about the domain industry.. reselling is dead or just about there with sales not really worth the time of day. Great if you can find an end-user but the world economy is such that names are not really first on their list to spend their $ on..

I could go on about how I feel about ext and how search engines love and hate them but don't wish to bore....

Domaining has changed...

Just me .. and how I feel as I said...

Michelle, I've had a real dry strike for about since about the end of 2008. Not even making enough to keep the portfolio. My boss (wife) has put spending restrictions that have made me drop domains. But in the last month, things have started to pick up. I've had a couple of enduser sales and a few interested potential (and not so potential) buyers. I think domain names are a good measuring stick of the economy, and if this is not just a fluke, this might be the start of something good (I am usually too positive). Selling to endusers as well as trading would improve if what I think is correct. Oh, I talked to the bido support team about a redirection problem with the nameservers and they gave me a credit to speedup the auction.

Here it is in my signature :)

I do believe there re still those ppl out there who see the value of a good domain but like you said, domains aren't high on a person's list of priorities. On one hand, GoodDomain.com. On the other, feeding you kids and putting a roof over their head. If you can find a good domain cheap, buy it. This economy will pick up eventually :p

sorry but bido is bad when i go to sell a name at auction i dont want to wait on 10 bids then wait on it being sent to auction
another thing $40 min WTH if they sell at min $38 they know what they are doing there and its not nice for small domainers.
myself i gave up and will not use them again
yes ebay is better not much but its better all the same

The good thing about eBay: Literally thousands of of domainers look there daily. Bad: Most 'serious' domainers never use eBay. So eBay is still great for small/medium sized domainers.

Bido should only allow domains that get the minimum bid(or BidoPrice) to go to auction. Then delete all the other domains that don't get a bid after 3-5 days. Would save a lot of time.

I am stumped. I like Bido, its idea, its platform and its service. Am I the only one? In the last few weeks Bido lost several hundred ranks in Alexa daily. Why?

Today one of my auctions ended (again) with no bid. The domain was Cloudreservation.com. If this name was so bad, why did I receive 10 votes in shortest time, considering that the Bido price of §199 cost more voting points for voters than a lower reserve.

I pushed this auction a bit but as I said there wasn´t even one bid with the minimum $38. I am stumped.

Alexa doesn't mean anything here, it's one of the easiest gamed things out there.

After doing some tremendous reading and searching on .de domains I finally have a clue as to why the Bido buyer is investing in .de names.
I had to dig deep into DN journal articles and several articles from domain guru's so for those of you who are puzzled and claim German English.de domains are a waste you be surprised. First of all lets deal with the facts, if you really look closely at .de sales you will notice alot of english names sell for over $1,000 and infact the highest de domains sales are all in english Shopping.de, news,de auto,de casino.de etc.

I say to myself right these are generic domains, but why will a company want to dish out over 2 million dollars for shopping.de

I started to dig out further the clue has always been ontop of my browser.
when you visit a website in German notice you always get a prompt that says hey buddy do you want me to translate? To understand the basic fundamentals of keywords, word translation and how google have been ranking websites lately I advise you to research this part on your own. Google doesn't really care about english names in de. it can be transalted for eg even if german users type in a word in german ..english websites also popup, I mean it makes sense as long as what they are searching for is relevant to a website it do'sent matter if the website is in english. Why .de you might ask, simple the German economy is massive. I understand somewhat why he is buying these names, he is obviously stockpiling for future use. Remember english is also a universal Language at least almost everyone understands the basics, yup even the German get the basics.

This is my take on it so far. He is not a new domainer either from what I have found. He has been in the game before i started teething.lol jokes

will dig some more.

the englishword.de thing is also more complicated. In Germany and mixed into German some english words are used daily some are known and some will never be able to be marketed.

Anyway I guess bido is ok for domains that you want to sell for 38$
Also I have made 10$ so far on my bido points so it can work, I allways vote the max 3 votes on anything I think will sell.

Points are free. Money isn't. Just because a person was willing to cast a vote doesn't mean they'd be willing to pay even $1 for the domain.

Bido's banner says that it is .me day there today. Then they list watch.me, follow.me, catch.me, win.me, catchy.me.... None of which are being auctioned off at Bido! In fact watch.me is currently at Sedo's great domains auction.

A little odd.

Hello guys,
need answer here, I bought one bido point for $8.8 and it only push one domain with bidoprice of $56? Is that true? Very very expensive if true..Isn't it one bido point to accelerate $1000 of bidoprice?

You can accelerate 1 name with 1 Bido credit.

.us .in .de .ch .uk .es seem to have their own logos whereas the others redirect to .com filtered by extension... I had no idea Bido was available in so many languages.. :)

wow, i think Bido.com is running on an autopilot now, no one was there when i sold my 4L.com. Waited a week on there, and finally started emailing the buyer and sold off of the platform anyway, but wow, no customer service, no response at all. Weird. hmmmm. :(

The owner Sahar Sarid was arrested. I think he's out on bail and his trial is still pending, but I'm guessing part of his bail is that he's not allowed to touch the internets :)

It's case number BA464483 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center (LAC) Department 030:

http://www.lacourt.org/criminalcasesummary/ui/

Unless he sold it and I missed the memo, I wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the update.
I knew Sahar was facing charges but since the site was still operating I was under the impression it had transferred ownership.
There are still names running up the pipe, but I guess @The Durfer got lucky and found the buyers email addy to close his deal.

Anyone else bought or sold off that platform in the last couple of years?

Peace,
Kenny

Finally, another auction platform.

I was excited! Then the guy gets arrested :hungover:
