Best place to auction a high 4 figure low five figure domain?

Hello,
I have a domain (well actually a whole .net .com etc... suite) that I am looking to sell. I was offered in the high four figures for my domain, but I think I can get more, and that seller seems a bit on the flaky side. What do you think the best place to sell it would be? I would like to get maximum exposure, but godaddy wants 30% for a premium listing... that's pretty damn steep, though at least their interests will be in line with mine. Have any of you used their premium service? Do you feel its worth the price?

Sedo seems pretty good, and Ebay seems decent though they don't seem like the go-to place to sell domains.

I was curious as to where you think the best place to list this domain is. I feel I can get in the low 5 figures for it... maybe even mid 5 figures. I should probably mention its an adult oriented domain name. I was going to develop it myself, but that's not a business I can really be in and still have my day job.

From my experience in the Domaining World, I assure you their is no place you can auction your domain and get a fair price. All auction houses are flooded with Domainers - only the few odd generic .com's get end users involved in bidding, otherwise end users use godaddy, registrars to look for their domain names. The majority of end users are small business owners ( they spend from $10-$500 maximum on a domain name). The few odd ones do spend up to $1500 US.

In my early days I made the mistake of rejecting some very good offers on domains, now their in line to be expired. When offers come, take them!

In your case the offer depends on quality and demand for your word or letters. You have to determine if the offer is good enough for you to profit, can you buy a better .com with the money? If your answer is YES, then accept the offer and buy yourself the next .com!

The world wide web is flooded with tlds! Not everyone wants a .com.

I'd try Latonas.com. If it isn't accepted there then it may not be worth what you think it's worth. It's also probably the place it will sell the fastest. Other than that, I'd put it at a Domain Conference Auction such as T.R.A.F.F.I.C or one of the others. Preferably one which has an adult theme. Any of the other options is going to take quite along time to sell. The 30% GoDaddy fee is quite ok because they put the domain in front of interested parties. You just add the 30% plus a bit more for yourself to your asking price.

I also kinda agree with Hope. Unless this is a one word domain, it may not be a good idea to hang out for higher offers. If you are making a good ROI, then it might be better to sell and reinvest in another domain. But only you can make that call.

If it is a run-of-the-mill good .com/.net group then the advice above is spot on. However you have not said if you have tried marketing the domain/s to possible/likely end users yet, if you haven't then that is your first step, after all nobody 'wants' to pay commission do they. :hehe:

I suppose first of all you need to decide for your self what exactly you need: to sell fast or sell that on the most expensive rates.
