I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I couldn't find one that seemed relevant, and this has to do with marketing to incoming traffic, so I assume it goes here.
What are the average times that people stay at a site? In stats it shows 40% of my traffic is leaving within 30 seconds. It also shows that 25% of the traffic is leaving from the index page, so I will chalk up the other 15% to members who still have active cookies and come back just to check their messages quick and then leave or something of that nature (its a social networking site). It's rather hard to pin down exactly whats happening.
So is 25% too large of a number? It seems high to me, especially considering that most of my traffic is bookmark traffic, extremely specific search traffic, and targeted backlinks.
I guess I'm just looking to see what figures others are experiencing. Thanks
