I am curious - how many people here invest in new gTLDs in 2020?
(invest in new gTLDs means you have at least 1 new gTLD domain name)

And if you can share, how many new gTLD domains do you have at the moment? And does it work for you?

Thanks for sharing :)

It would be good, but we do not live in socialism :)

They had to pay, in some cases tens of millions of dollars just to get the right to operate just one extension. They also have to pay yearly maintenance fees and they have to pay their employees who are actually operating the extension.

So to waive premium and reserved names, so we, domainers are happy, sounds good in theory, but registries are private companies, and they are not charities for us :)

i don't know the reasons but why other ext don't follow this model?

The problem is if they add more and more domains to their lists

There is nothing abusive about it IMO. No one is forcing you to buy something that you find expensive. You can always buy .com names if that suits you better. But you will pay a large amount of money anyway for a good .com domain name, on the .com domain aftermarket to a fellow domain investor.

Good domain names simply cost lot of money. Or you can hand register a bad long domain name, for $1 coupon promotion, and be done with it as well :)

Thanks for sharing your experience!
And sorry to hear new gTLDs have not delivered better for you.

To be honest I never tried to invest on them. I am really old school but I checked if it was something I could have been able to invest in.

But after some researches I understood it was too complicated. Too many extensions, different pricing, most premium names priced too high by the registries and a small aftermarket.

Yes but after it is 9 dollars a year to renew the name...

Gtlds do what they want, change pricing, get back dropped names to resell them again...
