Appraisal Pls - Huge Australian Directory 500K LIstings - ozw .com.au

Hi Guys,

Any ideas on this domain and website?

- www. ozw .com.au
- Appx 510K listings - Around 500-1000 new Aus business listings per month
(Large percentage from SEO companies with outlook / gmail but good quality
address / phone / mobile numbers for almost all the records)
- Based on e-directory software - could use some work to make it more user friendly
- According to Hyperstat it gets about 9600 visitors a month
- According to AWStats it gets about 7000-10000 uniques a month
- No advertising or listing revenue (never done much with the ads)
- Trademark and Australian based registered company (never traded so no accounts)

Would love some feedback as to what I could flip it for quickly.

Keep thinking that.
Don't know about a country specific directory for Australia, but directories as a whole are not super money makers at all.
Directory would have to pull in at least $1,000 a month to be worth 10K.

I'm from Australia, however I don't hunt much for .com.au.
There's some LLL.com.au private sales showing here for around 1000USD: Namebio
Note that dad.com.au is included among them.
DNS managed to find ~5KUSD for mod in the .com.au
Perhaps 2-5K depending on the income the site generates?

Ahrefs.com says it gets just north of 3000 hits/month. You won't be able to flip it for anything near 10k if you do not report some sort of revenue. The domain name itself doesn't have much value either seeing as there are still LLL.com.au available to register.

I wouldn't put adsense on directory sites. Make sure all pages have real content (don't show adsense on a blank page or search result pages with no real content, or 404 pages). Make sure all real content is okay for adsense. Because directory sites have user generated content, don't approve listings without manual review, don't let people edit their approved listings without your knowledge. Make sure there is no link to dangerous sites (porn, hate, etc) Some link owners may redirect domains to such sites after a while. Domains of some of the actively listed websites expire or are sold by their owners and the new domain-website owner may develop the domain with complete different content or may add new content to their websites. Only 1 bad link or 1 bad page can end up with banning of your adsense account. I would use a different, less valuable ad network which you don't care if they ban. You may sell ads directly to other link directory owners. For instance, I own directory sites. Sometimes I buy ads from other directory sites.It doesn't mean I want to buy ads from you. I am just giving you some ideas. You can display CPA offers. CPA networks don't care much when you display CPA banners on blank pages since those ads don't crawl your content.

Monetize your directory first then show the revenue. You can ask for 20+ months revenue when you sell your sites. I don't agree with the above comment. You can sell a site earning $500 per month for $10k even more.

Hey thats great advice - thank you so much for the feedback. Havent had any issues with adsense so far but I do earn with it on other sites, so better to be safe than sorry. The site gets a lot of hits but I suspect bot traffic. I just done have the time to fix up the pages or the PHP knowledge sadly, but it could be good for someone who knows their shit.

You can install statcounter to see real human visits. It's free and gives more usable data than analytics.
I could help in any customization if it was running on phpld. I don't have time to learn a new script.
CPA banners work well in directories. Directories are in "webmaster" category. You can sell anything that webmasters buy.
