James Cameron's Titanic was the biggest hit in history - but Avatar and its 3-D technology could be 'the future of the movies'... -source

Popular fads aren't my specialty, but this movie looks like a huge event.
Anyone here been buying (reg'ing) avatar related domains, or think it's a good (or bad) idea?

It's a big film and a very good movie (I saw it Thursday) that I expect to win major awards, including a best picture oscar nomination, but it seems to me that its main significance lies in the way it advances 3D technology and signifies (because its James Cameron and because the movie costs half a billion dollars) that 3D is in fact the future and the future is now. To that end, I think the smarter move is to register 3D names. I registered a handful of avatar typos a while back (figuring that avatars have importance quite apart from the movie, so I should at least earn back my investment), but it probably wasn't a smart move. I suppose I can see film enthusiasts building forums and such around the movie, but there doesn't seem to me to be much for domain investors to grab hold to, in my opinion.

I have avatar.tel, registered right after landrush (reg fee).

I have NO intentions of cybersquatting the Avatar movie, not even a peep about it.

I just thought avatar fit the TLD.
