Just came across this on the net about Angelina Jolie registering domain names for the new born twins.

http://www.theimproper.com/Template_Article.aspx?IssueId=4&ArticleId=1906

Looks like all the popular and unpopular TLDs have been regged including .ws, .tv and .mobi.

However, it appears as though there was no interest in registering the .asia extension !! Just did a quick random check at Dynadot, and everything apart from .asia has been registered.

I wonder what are cybersquatters thinking when registering all those .ws etc.
Is there ANY traffic ever??
I doubt that...

I'm sure she's not really bothered about the money spent on the names in this case... :hehe:

The lawyers must be stupid, cause I reckon the cccc.com's of the names are better i.e. kljp and vmjp are better .. coms are taken but .nets .orgs etc are available for those interested for a stupid fan site.

Also a good name is brangybunch.com - available - thats the new term I have heard for them on media reports.

vm-jp.com is avail too

Update: Yes I Got Sucked In! Just Regged Vm-jp.com And Kl-jp.com ... Now Anxiously Waiting For An Email From Brad Or Angelina Or There Lawyers ... Lol

Well I know that when I have kids, I will definately not be using an Q, X, Z type letters in their names. I don't want them to feel second rate compared to other kids who are full of vowels and hot letters !!

I regged my soon-to-be-born son's name a couple of weeks ago.

I didn't want a cybersquatter snatching it up :)

This post has been amazing, because it got me thinking about my own personal name .com. It was registered and owned by a newspaper, who apparently was using the site to promote a guy with the same name who was running for a seat on the school board in some city in Montana, or something similar to that. I thought the media was supposed to be impartial, but, whatever.

The guy lost the election, so I sent an email to the newspaper expressing interest in buying the domain a few months back. They completely ignored me. But apparently they let it drop, because I just checked and it was available to register again. :)

So I am now the proud owner of HerbMoyer.com.

Thanks for this post, rep added :)

Dumb of them to ignore your enquire and let it drop instead though. ;)

How about .pitt and .jolie ?

They may not get 11 mil for them but they could auction off names for charity forever.

I had mine, dropped it, then got it back. I promptly regged my nephew, daughter, sister and wifes names too.... I imagine my kids will appreciate it in 10 years.

The only downside to buying names for females is that they could get married and then the domain is pointless. :)

But yeah, generally speaking, it's just sort of cool to have your own name.
