Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Funny thing -- I go to check the same names and now Namecheap magically has updated prices. Maybe someone at Namecheap is watching and ran their pricing update? Or perhaps AN needed to push/broadcast the prices over to NC?

The same for me. The domain I gave as an example on the previous page is now listed on Namecheap with the correct price.

Friday morning: "Your funds ($5K+) are on the way"

Following Thursday: Crickets chirping. Funds? Nyet.

Fingers tapping. Mind wondering: I pay a commission, well beyond Escrow.com's fee (if any, to me), and for the added cost, I get to "be a good boy and wait patiently"? OTOH, Escrow.com gets the funds delivered via ACH in a day or two. Worked well for ~20 years.

This is how things and relationships start to break down and fall apart.

Whomever or where ever the friction and drag on payment is originating from, mind this: AI is coming for your job. Do not be a source of friction. EOM

I miss DAN. Anyone else miss DAN? Names expire, they go into review... why doesn't the system just auto-check the whois status and avoid the manual hassle for domain owner? If the domain owner listed it in the first place without any issues, then afternic should make it easy (checkbox) to re-verify or re-list the domain.

I miss DAN like the desert misses the rain.

In fact, it was the best thing about domain investing, as it at least made one facet of the business very easy to perform. I'd smile when I opened up my DAN dashboard each morning to view my activity and respond to offers and other inquiries, while I have a deep sense of trepidation logging into Afternic, as I know that absolutely nothing will have happened or changed.

On Afternic, everything is dead slow, difficult, buggy. and time-consuming, and even knowing the corporate BS behind it, I still cannot believe GD chose the archaic and featureless Afternic over the far-superior DAN, as their platform of choice. At the very least, DAN should not have been closed before Afternic had a functional self-brokerage option.

I've said it before, but this decision truly boggles the mind.

Its been 4 months since I stopped parking my domains @Afternic so I think it's time to check if their issues we're resolved or not:
Issue 1: Slow loading when someone presses the 'buy now' button on a domains' landing page. Back in September it was taking ~30 seconds to load, now it takes ~15 seconds. NOT RESOLVED, since it should take around 5 seconds. Thanks @bmugford for the update on this.

However, I couldn't find if these 2 issues we're resolved or not, so I would GREATLY appreciate if someone could please give me an update on these 2 other issues:

Issue 2: Showing the wrong landing page. I personally use the NS5/NS6 nameservers, so I expect the 'buy now' landing page to be shown, no exceptions.

Issue 3: Error when someone presses the 'buy now' button on a domains' landing page.
BUYERS CAN'T EVEN BUY THE DOMAINS @GoDaddy I get this error on many of my domains whenever I press the buy now button on my parked domain.

Lander type selection is no longer based on NS, you have to arrange it in the dashboard. All 6 Afternic nameservers respond with the same A records and IP addresses. I recommend ns5 & ns6 because ns1 & ns2 are technically misconfigured.

Someone did give an interesting tip on X however... just changing your NS on Afternic from 1/2 to 5/6 (or back again) triggers those who are monitoring domains and as such, you may see a sales spike. May be worthy to test

All my domains were already set to show the 'buy now' landing page, however, 4 months ago there was that issue where they would randomly show the wrong type of landing page, do you know if this has been fixed? thanks.

I have reported this issue several times already. And no one ever answered me.
The same goes for GD reg path: "This domain isn't available."

I'm no longer using Afternic landers, but I'm still listing domains on the platform. So I cannot tell if this issue has been fixed. However, I've read similar experiences in this thread before. IIRC, the HTML code for the landers was trying to include really too much bloated stuff, even auctions. Especially when you say "randomly", it worries me. That's not what you want.

It still happens, it's probably because the domain went into PeNdIng RevIew

Knocking on heaven's door... Brokers not only do not respond now but they aren't even closing the cold-frozen leads.

The entire system is broken and managing to make a sale on Afternic is just a matter of blind luck.

To be fair, Jenny C. negotiated a sale for me yesterday (AND answered my message), so I had a very positive experience with her.

Btw, your lead is only three days old. Why so eager to close it?
Not 3 days old:) It's from Jan 2, no point in keeping it as 'Qualifying'.

Happy you're having a better experience.

3 days is nothing - I had counter offers from around Christmas that were still sitting there earlier this week. I finally messaged the brokers and the offers were eventually forwarded, but if not, they might still be languishing there today.

I'm still having random names disappear from my Afternic account.

A random check this morning found 5 names that disappeared.

No notice. No email. Nothing to let me know other than me noticing my totals names number looking odd.

The fact this most basic level of portfolio management does not work properly is insane.

Alrighty. Time to eat a bit of HUMBLE PIE and apologize to the TA team. The funds were timely delivered and, for reasons I don't understand or can't explain. yours' truly failed to see the line item. Possibly a brain fart attributable to a near simultaneous ~$5K in and ~$5k transfer out situation so the numbers in the account didn't move, leading my addled brain to . . . be addled. My bad. Shame on me. They actually did a spot on job in TA . . as usual. Argh....shrinks in stature and crawls away . . . Of course, when I went off the intelligence rails and issued my "Where's the money . . . " email as simple "Hey, silly . . . " reply might have saved me from myself . . ya know? :p
Oh, drat, there's no escaping it. It's all on me. Argh.

It's 2025 and Afternic still Afternicking.

What is extremely concerning is that if these are fast transfer names the sale will be credited to the account that imported the names and taken from my registrar account without me having any idea until my next audit.
