Aereo had an interesting business model, essentially the idea was to build millions of antennas in different locations throughout the world, then allow their subscribers to access those antennae on a 1 to 1 ratio, essentially allowing viewers from around the world to watch 'free to air' broadcasts of interest. The courts have ruled against them, and they gave up trying to beat the system..... more here.
Haven't checked yet to see how this affected filmontv.com. But, my impression was it was the same business model, millions of antennas in arrays that captured 'free' to air broadcasts which were then available on a 1 antenna to 1 user ratio.
Filmontv.com has other content, though, even their own produced shows, so I imagine it's just a business shift for them rather than closing operations.
