Advantages and Disadvantages of Domain Portfolio Website ???

i have most of my names at sedo but would like to be able to say more than sedo allows in their sales listing space

i have though about a domain portfolio page but in a way i don't want people to know what i have as i have some very similar names that compete with each other, i'm hesitant to put a page up

can people give opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of a portfolio page ??

I think that there are only advantages to having a portfolio page if you do it right.

There are a couple of ways:

1. Set up a business name and register the portfolio in the business name so that there are no direct links to you.

2. Register with Privacy Protect. But this may raise eye brows as people want to know whom they deal with.

One advantage of a portfolio website:

Repeat Sales.

My names are cheap and so my best customers have bought a lot more than one domain from me. I prefer selling through my site as I can develop better relationships with my customers.

I like to list similar domains together as a customer may want more than one name.

At one time, I wanted to list all of my names on http://www.dnwholesaler.com
I even changed my ebay username to dnwholesaler and wanted to start listing a ton of low-level names on there. That takes way too much time to earn just a few bucks per name, however, so I've kind of forgotten about both projects.

I think if you have a ton of names, then it is a good idea because your site could be thought of as a domain name store. If you are just listing a few names, however, I think sedo, afternic, and forums are the way to go.

i have about 150 names and all except the mobis (i hope) and about 5 of the others are worth less than 50 bucks i would think (on down to about a dollar !)

one of the things i realize about sedo is this, you see a whole lot of names to compare and you might almost be turned off because of the choice whereas if you end up at a domain portfolio you are only looking at what's there and you may not have as much to compare it to, you tend to take more time and measure each name on your own terms

obviously if i get a godaddy host account i can just point all my domains at the same page and probably a good few of the type-in traffic are people interested in the domain, not just browsing

anyway, i think i might try a portfolio just to see how it goes

Yeah, give it a shot, it doesn't take much to set up a portfolio (the script I use on DNwholesaler is a free one), and it can't hurt to try.

Also, you can always just promote your Sedo portfolio page. Did you know you could display a page with all of the names you have listed on sedo?

no i didn't but that doesn't surprise me because i personally believe that sedo does a terrible job of web design and user interface

also, i haven't really looked hard as i am kind of mixed on my feelings of having all my names displayed
