Thanks for your comments.

Like i said, i bought them all from snapnames.com and also like i said above 'Recent name sale on sedo and not even a .com
stellamccartney.com.cn. 750 $US

Is it 1 rule for the BigBoys and another for the small reseller.

As for unsuspecting, well i am sure NOBODY buys a domain name and pays lots of money if they don't realy want it.

The names i have do not have TM so its a free market.

There a plenty of fan websites so whats the big deal. And i am sure lots and lots of people are NAMED after so called famous people and they might want it.

In my view it is quite simple, if all the big domain companies can sell them then so can all other domainers. I feel sure there are many domainers out there who feel the same way.

Ask yourself this, if you were offered DavidBeckham.com or JohnSmith.com for $60 would you buy it??

I rest my case.

Kind regards

"Linda",
Before you "rest" your case, I suggest that you do some reading in the legal section of this forum. It should save you money in the future, it may prevent you from getting sued in the future, and who knows, it may even stop you from scamming others with these domains...
(What I mean by scamming is that names like this should not be sold by anyone without a disclaimer that says something like "WARNING: The seller is not the rightful owner of this common law trademark. You could face legal consequences, particularly if you profit from the use or sale of this name. You could become liable for expenses and damages that far exceed all of your profits."

To anwer your question, what I mean by unsuspecting victim is someone who buys the domain thinking that they can legally profit from it without the risk of getting into a legal mess down the road. In other words, someone like you. After all, why else would you have mentinoned the $69,000 estibot estimate? And why else would you have put it up for sale?

While I agree with what MeanerDomainer is saying, I am baffled by the $69,000 EstiBot evaluation...I show a $6,600 evaluation. It's also probably not too good that a search for "rosieperez.com" has this thread as the #3 result.

I am also seeing $6,600, not $69,000. Estibot estimates for the same name can vary within a short time based on my limited experience with estibot, but more than 10X seems like a big variance.

Not worried about search for rosieperez.com bringing up this forum...

Linda,
It's morally wrong to sell those names to some unsuspecting person (victim, actually). Try to get your money back. It is a VERY safe bet that whoever sold you the domain did not own the commonlaw trademark to that celebrity name. If you hand registered the rest, hopefully the registrar you used gives a couple of days to cancel and you are still within that window.

Just like someone already said, just consider it a lesson learned and tuition paid. I know it sucks, I went through the same thing my first day registering domains.

PS I am not a lawyer, all this is just based on what I have read on the legal section on this forum and other forums.

Thanks for your comments.

Still waiting for ANYONE to tell me out of the Millions of john smiths in the world who has the right to johnsmith.com

Why will no one answer this question?

I don't think there is a problem in anyone owning that domain as long as they are not profiting off of another person, for example, a celebrity. I COULD very well be wrong, but from the content you have on RosiePerez.com I doubt you would have too many legal problems - I would HIGHLY recommend reading the ChrisBosh.com discussion as it is both relevant to this and a very good read for any domainer.
